So I recently bought a new ome carburetor to replace the holly because I wanted to run the factory air box just have a few questions about installing it do I need to have a heat insulator block or can I bolt straight onto the intake iv went out to my old man's to check the 2 wrecks we have and none of them seem to have a block between the carb and intake

I would place insulator. Helps with linkage spacing and operation

So when asking for help it goes better/faster when you list year/market/model.
You need books/manuals. The Chilton is better than nothing
Free factory manuals downloads here - hopefully it has stuff your yours.

Sorry, I should have said that it is a 1976 FJ45. And should the carb bolt straight onto the intake or should there be a block like this between them

Depending on the year, the linkage may not have enough clearance without the spacing provided by the insulator.

And regardless of year, it won't be tall enough to reach the air cleaner housing.

So now there are three reasons to get one.
