I needed the no longer available roof to cab weatherstripping for a SWB Fixed Top FJ45. I made one years ago for my old SWB FT out of FJ40 roof weatherstripping, it worked but was never fully happy with it.
30 years later I tried again and was happier with the results.
I made it out of two FJ45 LPB roof weatherstripping's from City Racer, some white marine vinyl piping, Gorilla superglue and some black Flex Seal liquid rubber.
The LPB weatherstripping was cut to make three pieces, door bow pieces and rear piece, then I cut off the round outside part of the w/s ( which was replaced with the vinyl piping), then made accordion cuts on another piece to make corners.
Glued everything together, filled the accordion cut corners with Flex Seal.
After Flex Seal was dry I was able to grind it down with a die grinder with a 120 grit disc to get a better thickness and to smooth it out.
Then I glued on the white piping to mimic how the factory w/s was made.
