Michael B, those wheels and tires look great. What are the specs on those wheels - make, size, backset, etc - if you know?
Fedtime, the FJ45s are rare out here as well. 1978 was the last year that Toyota sold them in Canada, as far as I know.
I also have a 1977 in about the same condition as this one was before I started on it three months ago. The 1977 actually has a better frame with no rust through of any frame parts, inner or outer. It also runs and drives well. I took the box off of the 1977 and used it on the 1978 - not sure if it was really better or not - both had issues. I do have replacement sides, wheel wells, and floor patch panels for the remaining box. And I bought cab corners, rockers, and other patch panels for the 1977 at the same time that I bought them for the 1978.
If anyone had serious interest in the 1977, I would consider selling it - not sure that I want to do another 45 project at this time. I actually thought of selling both trucks before I started on the 1978 - it looked like a lot of work. Now that I worked on the 1978, I'm glad that I did. I had a lot of fun and satisfaction from this project, even though it's not a show quality result. Although the body is now solid, this isn't the best cosmetic body work. With aj few more days of work, one could take care of the small imperfections in the panels and do a more professional paint job. Maybe some day.
