Well since I am considering links, I too would like to know how roadable they are as a front setup. :grinpimp:

how a about placing the shock here. on both sides fj40 sh.webp

i have a lot of proffitts parts. and help full to. parts or nice with a little work. pulled the tcase i have a 3 speed. pulled it all a part so i could clean if up and put new seal and what not in it. i found mud and water in it but so did the axle and the tranny.

"i" dont think that shock is going to be long enough for a link suspension and alow the suspension to travel

"I" think so too. The shock itself looks too short and mounted in that location will not allow enough travel, no mater how long the shock is.

i will be get new shock when the time come.but they will work for placing new shoch mounts. what i need to no is where is a good place for them.or should i get new shock right now.

i dont know if it is in the budget but i would say new shocks now, you need probly a 14" i know when i bought my proffits kit he was saying to run a 16" but it also depends on youre reardriveline no point in running that long of a shock if you cant use it all.

i need to no is that a good place to put for the shock. what kind so shock did you use coolcruiserfj40 pics of your would be cool thanks

Mount the bottom as low and outboard as you can on the axle and make some brackets for the shock to be mounted higher on the cross member. Angle the shocks in like on a stock setup. The further appart the mounts are the more travel you will allow for.

I would say yes and no to this answer(newbie fa%ker answer).

Fly and Glow is a heli mechanic and is limited to what he sees at work, although he went to moab and thinks he knows it all he really does not.

Wink wink........

The shocks should be as vertical as possible, when pushing them in on a angle it allows more travel but has a different leverage on the shock and makes them less effective.

But the problem with vertical is you would have to cut into the floor and make shock towers.

I run 14" stroke Bilstein 5150's on my suspension, all 4 corners...

the rear shocks mount behind the axle and are near-verticle...yes, they do extend about 5-6" thru the rear tub to a custom crosshoop.

my suspension uses ALL of that 14" of stroke, front and rear....you want the shocks as verticle as possible for maximum dampening/control and you will need more than those cute short ones you show in the pic ;)

Here's mine

15" travel cheapo Pro Comp shocks.

Mine are not mounted vertical, or even close, but they do not hinder articulation, they just probably do not absorb shock as well as they should.
