Its correct for a 45, I used to buy complete trucks for $1200 back in the day!
@whitey45 What do you think this setup is worth? I sold a set of the hinges alone for $750 about a year ago. I bought this setup for $950 thinking I would use it on my build but not going to happen.

I would retitle the ad for FJ40. Like @kunzma , the footman loops have me doubting its provenance. I bought a brand new tailgate from Toyota in 1992 to use on my swb restoration, but couldn’t bring myself to install a gate with loops, so I paid the body shop to repair the original (the repairs cost more than the new gate)

Modified it.

I have had a couple shorty 45’s with the footman loops, so I think toyota might have used 40 gates too? But do agree it shouldnt have them! I think the boom 45 market has softened considerably? Its worth how bad someone needs one I guess!!

@whitey45 were the tailgates you had on the SWB 45’s with footman loops a FHT or RHT? Just curious if it was a model specific thing or year(s)? Also do you remember if the middle ridge of the was the skinny or wide version?

My ‘63 FHT has the skinny version below without the footman loops.

That tailgate is prior to 9/71 with six footman loops. Later only had four. License plate bracket is prior to 2/74. On a Left hand drive license plate and spare tire would be reversed. That license plate bracket was either moved to the other side or from a right hand drive. The few 75 FST imported to the US the spare tire remained on the passenger's side.

Yeah, not correct for a ‘75 but I like the tailgates. And yes the lic bracket was on the other side but had to move to allow for my spare which isn’t correct either.

It appears your was made for ambulance doors. Not sure how mounted you tailgate but with cutout for ambulance doors a spacer between the hinges and tailgate it would flush against the tub. Use same thickness spacers between the latches and tailgate so it flush there as well. Thin weatherstripping on the tailgate and thicker on the bottom of hatch and would fit flush and seal tight.

I test fitted a 71 tailgate into my 76 hard top. It fit flush.

Bought the 71 tailgate to use on my 68 hard top but ended buying a FST before got around to it.
