FJ40 SOR kickvent speakers

What size speakers are people using with the SOR kickvent speaker mounts? I am not that knowledgeable on speaker sizes and the guy at SOR has no clue. The hole is 4.5" dia with a max speaker depth from the mounting surface of 2". Do these take a 4", 5.25" or ?????????

5 1/4 speakers usually take a cutout close to 5" in diameter. Depends a lot on the speaker. Depth will more likely be an issue. 2" is pretty shallow even for a top mounted speaker. Id be willing to be you could fit a 5 1/4 in there if you cut it out. Might want to check out Crutchfield for specs and depths.

I made my own plate,have 6 1/2 speakers but I don't use the kickvents,pretty much a straight plate without the bends to allow the air came inside( I have my hi lift jack mounted on the pass step,can't open the vent no more)

I test-fit some different speakers today at a local stereo shop. Definitly 5.25". All 5.25's that I researched take a 4.5" cutout. Gotta be careful about the depth, as mentioned. I found a nice set of Alpine SPS-500's that fit nicely and can handle up to 55W RMS/ea. Lots of 25 & 35W 5.25" that will also fit but not handle the power.
