fj40 skidplate

I finally finished the skidplate for the 40. Had to bend up some tube for the crossmembers and covered it with 1/2" hdpe, bending it wasn't to bad, I have worked with it before, Its been on my FJ Cruiser for two years with no problem. Had to bring it down on the 40 a bit because of the sm420 trans, what do you think? capt

I bent the hdpe by clamping it down to the bench and heating up both sides with a torch, and then cooling it down with a wet rag

How'd you get those compound bends so close together? Is it pieced & butt welded? That's a simple & clean skid plate design. Does it cover the low hanging parking drum too?

all one piece, after you bend you have to cool it off completely before the next bend and when you use a torch its pretty narrow were the heat is applied. And yes it protects the E brake drum

Didn't notice the last pic. I didn't think it was pieced, but 'ya never know, I've seen some fabbin' on here. W/o using a bender, you still did a mighty fine job
