Slow day at work today so I decided to take a trip to a collision repair shop on Alameda today. Why? I saw the infamous white top of an FJ40 peeping over the brick wall on my way to work this morning. The 1981 FJ40 was in the transport lot:
Since the vehicle is ready for transport (coming or going I do not know) I was unable to touch it too much (an insurance thing). But I was able to get a shot of the engine bay:
An the interior through the closed window:
The frame was galvanized.
Then on my way back to the office down north 4th street, with a stop over at Sophia's Kitchen (yum) I saw two more 1973 green FJ40's. One was at a meat market. I stopped and talked to the guy. He dropped a 400 sbc and 3.73 diffs. The last one was at a mechanic shop on 4th. All original with F engine (just rebuilt) and was having an issue with the single barrel carb cutting out at high throttle. Sorry no pics of the last two.
