I live in Colorado Springs and am looking for somewhere to get a tune-up as well as some electrical work done on my 69 FJ40. If anyone knows a good place nearby I would appreciate it.

Welcome to Mud! First off, we need some pictures. We all want to see what it is we are giving advice on. ;) Second, for a tune up, do it yourself. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, new fluids, new filters, adjust valves, and you're good to go. If you have never adjusted valves before, get a cruiserhead that lives close to you to come over and show you. It really isn't that difficult. Check with your local club (there are several in CO) and see if you can get together with them.

Good luck!

Hi Dave,

Welcome! :flipoff2:

It is pretty easy to do yourself. I live in Conifer and there's a great shop up here: CTS - Colorado Toyota Specialists, 26366 Sutton Rd. Conifer, CO (303) 838-4772. The owner is Joe Calleja and he's been working on Cruisers for years. It's a fair drive from the Springs though.

Another possibility would be to contact Robbie Antonson (powderpig here on mud). He lives in Boulder and wrenches on Cruisers for a living. I know he travels to do it, too. Oh yeah, he does the Tech articles for Toyota Trails magazine as well.

Welcome!

Without pictures I just might be giving awful advice. Pics or it might get worse! ;)

I'll second the motion that you do the tune up yourself. Buy an FSM, then buy the standard tune up stuff. It's really easier than you think.

But, if you don't want to do that, I'd give Robbie a call as well. A basic tune up is probably less than a days worth of work, especially for someone as experienced as Robbie.

What sort of "electrical work" are you talking about?

Dan
