An FJ40’s Night Before Christmas

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the streets, not a car to be seen, ‘specially them Jeeps. The snow was hip deep, filling the town,
when low and behold, the plows were shut down.

Up on the hilltop, out back of the house,
there was a great ruckus, it woke up my spouse.
Off in the distance, I saw a great flash,
as something bright red, came down with crash.

Was it Chris Cringle? Was he was caught in the blizzard? His radar had fritzed, a forced landing was triggered. Santa’s sleigh was buried to well over the dash, and all his Reindeer were tired, just ran outa’ gas.

My wife looked at me and painfully said, “what do we do? The world needed presents for a child or two.” I looked at her face, all worried and grim, and thought for a minute, maybe two……and then,

I thought of a plan to rescue the elf, get him airborne, get him some help. I went to the garage and patted its hood, fired it up, the purr of that 6, it sounded so good. I locked in the hubs and pushed in the choke, put her in 4 low and planted my foot.

That old Toyota pushed through the snow, it was an FJ40 and just wanted to go. I blasted through drifts and slid on the ice, the cold air was no challenge, as both heaters sufficed. We approached the crash site and all I could see, was Santa and Reindeer, cheering for me.

We shoveled him out and unhitched his team, hooked up the tow straps and flashed the high beams. The old Toyota pulled out his sleigh, just the first step to back underway.

Donner and Cupid, Comet and Vixen,
Dasher and Dancer, Prancer and Blitzen,
Rudolf in lead, they were sent out to pasture, where they could rest to regain their high stature.

The red elf smiled and said to his herd, “I’ll be back in the morning, I give you, my word.” Santa lifted the hood of the old Land Cruiser, tweaked on the timing, a horsepower improver.

I gave it some gas, that old 6 came alive, his tuning was magic for the upcoming drive. Down with the hood, then into his sleigh, were we actually ready to be on our way?

I let out the clutch and I goosed the gas, with 4 wheels pullin’, we left mighty fast. We finished delivery of goodies and toys, then back to his Reindeer, they cheered with joy.

I helped gather the herd and hook up his team,
as Santa looked on, at that truck with esteem. “Thank you, my friend, it’s been a good night, your FJ40 saved Christmas, that truck, it’s all right.”

Merry Christmas my FJ40 Friends…..
