I have a pre 79-83 Bib for sale. Not sure what year it is from, if anyone knows, please let me know. It was on my 1979 when I bought it. In great condition, no cancer, very solid and comes with the mesh screen. $150 plus the ride.

I believe it is a 1978. It has the bracket that the hood release bolts to. It also has the correct headlight buckets. Some states title late model 1978's as 1979 models. So depending on your Fj40 build date, this could actually be the bib that came on yours new.

Quickest way to tell 78 and earlier compered to 79 and later is starting in 79 there are four small raised brackets with fixed nuts for attaching the bezel. Earlier just have fixed nuts on the bib. The hood release goes back to at least 76.
Or just use the bottom "vents"
79+ is not oval.
It has angles on the sides. This is a "Square Bezel" front Bib. A square bezel won't fit on a earlier Bib (and vice versa) without a lot of massaging.

Yes, it came with my 79, but it was not installed, just in the back of the bed. I have a 79 bib on it now.BTW, that is a solid bezel and a good price. It's just not for a 79+ cruiser
