Purchased a very well refurbished accelerator linkage and pedal assembly for my FJ40. This gentleman who we all know really does a great job on these assemblies. The reason I'm writing this is the pedal mount hole diameter is clearanced for a M6 bolt. For some reason my rig has M8 inserts on the firewall. It was brought to my attention that M6 is the standard. Has anyone run into this on their rig? Do I have the oddball? It was a non-issue for me to enlarge the clearance hole. Just curious!

I just switched back to my original linkage petal on my 74 and the two bolts for the petal are m8 on it. I can’t speak to other years but 74 at least used m8’s.
OK, my 75 is tagged made in Feb. My serial number is a Jan build date. Looks like I have a 74 tub.

so its a mutt?

If it doesn't have the original welded nuts or they are drilled out with nutserts/helicoils, then yes....original hardware doesn't apply, you have to test the threads to find out what was used. M6x1.0 would be original, if it is M8, likely M8x1.25....but again, no one knows except you since it is no longer original....it could SAE for all we know.

They look like factory installed nuts identical to the others on the firewall.

- his
80 Series pod Cast is like nothing i have ever seen before or since @brian ............... mutt 🤣

all the pod cast is NOT about the bolts topic here , but take the time to make this time to study the whole msge here , it's super snappy TECH...
