Looking for a FJ40 (August 1980-83/84) (H42) 4 Speed Transmission (split case) for a Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40/45. No 60 trans as they are a bit longer. Thanks

Maybe best to stick with a close area due to the shipping cost as in Washington State, Oregon, Idaho, Utah. Thanks

That's a 60-series top plate... the 40-series will have the shifter opening a bit forward. I know the top plates are interchangeable since I just swapped a 40-series top plate onto a "long" 60-series 4-speed.

I just pulled a trans thatvhad a cracked case form water freezing. Going to sell the top plate and pull the gears for my stash. Scrap the case. Let me know if you end up needing it.

I can get 1 to Twin Falls the 7th or 8th of Dec. from a 40. I didn't think there was a difference other than the top plate on the trans between a 40 and a 60 for those years.

@Voodoocruisers It’s just the top plate that’s different. The overall length is the same for the one you have pictured and a split case equipped FJ40 of the same vintage since there’s no extension housing between the trans and transfer case.

The top plates can be swapped as stated earlier to make it work.

Well that's good to hear, yeah we just need one for parts or maybe to rebuild. We can use the top cover that we have. We do not have a hose as seen on yours coming out the side of our trans?

That hose is a custom piece. I am working to put one on mine now. Over the years the seals between the trans and transfer will die and allow the fluid to travel from TC to trans. That hose is connecting each fill plug to allow the fluid to return back to TC and keep everything in balance.

Not OEM but a good idea.

I have one I'll sell you... but shipping is the deal killer since we're on opposite side of the country.

Still trying to get hold of the gent in eastern Oregon, yeah that would be a killer on shipping. 3_puppies, what are you asking for the trans?
Thanks guys.

When my wife finds out I bought another parts truck... she’s going to be pretty killer too! Ha ha
