Seeking an FJ40 style “2F” embossed valve cover similar to the one screenshotted below (borrowed images from other mud threads). Specifically looking for the FJ40 style from ‘79 to 80’. Not looking for the FJ60 style. Let me know what you have. Located in DFW.

IIRC 1979 and 1980 only

I have one but was trying to get rid of the engine together with it minus the oil cooler and flywheel. Engine ran but had a knock at times, most noticeable at idle. Seems like it would be a good core for a rebuild rather than useful as a drop-in swap. Date code on the block is 1979. If any interest, please send me a message.

Thanks for sharing. Just took a leap and ordered one I found on eBay. Fingers crossed it’s legit. If so, I shouldn’t need anything else, but thank you for the offer.

What did you have to pay for it?

Thank you all for the leads and comments. I’ve come to learn these covers are rarer than I anticipated. Thanks to @mattressking for the lead on this unit, I took a leap of faith on the item posted on eBay. Fingers crossed it’s the unit that was in the picture on the ad.

you may also need:
oil cap
valve cover gasket
4 nuts
4 nut seals

the link says it sold, it doesn't come up,

Good point. The first photo is from the eBay ad and the second is the valve cover on my ‘77. Will I be able to reuse my current valve cover nuts, nut seals, oil cap and gasket on the 79/80 cover?

yes the nuts can be re-used
I would replace the 4 nut seals and valve cover gasket
you will also need a new oil cap as the 79-80 valve cover uses a screw in cap, the earlier uses a push in

Wanna sell your old valve cover?😉

Found this part number on another thread, just looking to verify for my application. Would this be the threaded oil cap part number?
