i was proud of my kids this past weekend... we marched in the largest flag day parade in the usa... missed the bus to take us down to the start of the parade... had to huff it me, my two kids a friend and a USMC vet (73 years old) to the starting area... a 2+ mile hike... 80+ deg 2 miles back in the parade... not a single complaint :)

heres a pic of my daughter second from left and son far right... this was at the end of the parade... i dont think she heard "atten-hut"

hoping maybe next year to have my cruiser included with us with my trailer... one of our staff is a wounded USMC vet and couldn't make the walk

I just want to say I am sorry to those of you I owe a PM or two. My silver is gone. Tried to renew but can not find any easy link that simply says renew. Found links for all kinds of advertisements. Chat groups, dating.:bang: Tried renewing off the email I got a while back But when I get to the pont where it says make payment I didn't see any comment box to say who I am.:meh:

After having problems in the club house section over a frame I was going to sell I have to decide if I want to renew my star or get my 500 PMs down to a 100 so I can start PMing again. Add into it my life is has taking a big turn. The building I have been operating for years is not funding my position after June. So working hard to get stuff finished up. Next I am suppose to go to a building that the postion has been vacant for over a years so that could also be very interesting. Getting from 500 to 100 may take a while. :frown:

Again sorry to all those I have not responsed to.

PS: Glad to see JohnnyC is back on Mud. I missed all the good information he added to the site.

It is what it is. I either cut and paste what I want to keep from a PM, or just delete them. I also keep in touch more by e-mail, and a couple of people I simply phone when I can :)
You'd be surprised how quickly you can go from 500 to 50 ;)

Haven't heard a peep from IDave in a while either...but then again, I am not on here like I used to be, so all's fair I guess.

Nice pic of the Kids Johnny!!

Hard to believe that something like this can still happen...

Prayers go out to all those who have been lost, and those that have been affected...

Wow. And all they're talking about down here is a plane crash.

All they are talking about here is the plane crash and the forest fire right above our city. The train wreck is crazy! Like that Denzel Washington movie gone bad! :whoops:

I hadn't heard about this at all here in AZ. The S.F. plane crash was all over the news yesterday. The train accident sounds like something simple like teens playing around and uncoupled the cars. But the question is why was the train parked on a hill in the first place? If they parked it on the hill then brakes should be set and secured to prevent something like this from happening. In both cases it seems a miracle the loss of life was greater. Unlike here in AZ where they are still figuring out how nineteen firefighters lost their life's in the Yarnell Fire. Those nineteen are about a quarter of Prescott's entire fire department. The bodies were transported from Phoenix to Prescott yesterday, my sister and her husband headed from our home up north yesterday to Las Vegas. They went thru Prescott just before the nineteen hursts arrived. She said the street was lined with people holding the America and AZ flags. Really sad. Just hope something good comes out of this like not relaying on weather reports hour hours old during monsoon season when thing change quickly and instead of calling in the slurry bombing waiting until the fire is out of control call them in quick to put it out. I remember at the end of President Clinton second term when a bunch of land in AZ was turned into wilderness and closed to all motorized vehicles. Bruce Babbitt who was secretary of the interior at the time was asked how is closing these areas going to effect fighting forest fires? His response was they really don't fight fires that much on the ground, they are now being fought by helicopters. Tell that to the families of the nineteen. Wish the forest service couldl figure out closing down all the old logging roads is not a good thing.

Edit: it looks like the death toll from the train accident is going to climb into over 40 persons lost. Very sad.:frown:

1962 FJ40

I'm not too good on these early 60's models. Trying to figure out what is original and what is not. The owner says this has an FJ25 6cyl-105hp which I did not sound correct to me. It's also a 3 speed on the floor. Not sure what to make of thing on the dash next to the glove box door. Obviously the roll bar and wheels are not correct. I don't see any wipers either.

I am brand new to this and I am always happy to be corrected, but since this is a chat thread and not an "ask an expert" thread, here is what I see.

The silver speedometer head is consistent with a 1962 FJ40. The steering wheel should be three-spoke, not two. People claim that a three-speed floor shift was a factory option, but I am not sure that is a fact or that anyone has ever identified one. Maybe they have, but I don't know. The breather tube from the valve cover to the top of the air cleaner is consistent with a F135, not a F120. (To nitpick the engine bay, the fuel filter is neither the right one nor placed in the correct location. The clutch and brake reservoirs should be "tin," not plastic. The radiator hoses are incorrect.) Also, the seats are not original. The front bumper is not original. The knob on the 4x4 lever should not be round and the 4x4 engagement pull is not original. There is something to the left of the wiper switch that is not original. The front turn signals should have dual sided lenses, can't tell from the photos if they do. More photos of more locations would reveal more of what is original and what is not.

It is obviously a clean unit and it appears to be functional and well preserved, though. Do you know the VIN?

If it is the original motor, the block # will be on the VIN plate. If it really is a F105 motor you should be able to get an idea of the year by looking at the block #'s in the FJ25 registry thread.

John or one of the other 40 experts will be able to tell you what's original or not.:D I see the steering wheel, seats, and the other extra things on the dash. ;)

(got distracted by work...............glad to see Old Red beat me to a reply....)

The engine should be a F135. The F105 may have been on the early FJ25s. I believe most were F120 and then switched to F135 mid 1960. The VIN on the firewall with have the serial for the original engine. You can compare that to see if it's original. Three on the floor I;m guessing is the later mid 63 and later three speed. Very common to have the early three speed replace a bad early three speed. Parts are not hat easy to find compared to the later three speed. Should have two TNK wipers on the top of the windshield. Guessing that might be a radio installed in the dash. What ever it is it's not stock. Wiper switch should be to the right of the head light switch. Head light switch is the first switch to the right of the steering wheel on the bottom of the dash. There should be a choke and throttle cables in the same area. All these should have what there are printed into the knobs. The Darth Vader light should be mounted to the bottom of the dash by the head light switch. Steering wheel looks wrong or missing a spoke. Seats are also from a later cruiser.

It's a clean cruiser but like most many things have been replaced with parts from later cruisers.

Time for me to go out to garage and getting something done. Too slow for this group.

Got the A/C set up? I had two window mounts in my garage door blocked up with a sheet. Very :hillbilly: but it knocked out the humidity....

No A/C yet. Problem is not the A/C but insulation. With the temperatures we get the cost to run a A/C in a non insulated is out of the question. For now I just have my redneck cooler setup.:hillbilly: Still better than nothing. Currently working on getting the white 25 back up north to work on. Once it cools off the plan is to get insulation and A/C installed for next summer. Until the better half can retire I will still be spending a good part of my summer in the oven.

That's about what mine looked like, but with a pink striped sheet in place of the high tech celotex. :princess: Still haven't fixed my condenser since last year......:bang:

The humidity isn't too high for the swamp cooler? I wish they would work here............water, water, everywhere. Hmmm, maybe if I pump from the stream and keep the shop exterior wet I can drop the interior temp a few degrees.

is it just me or does it look like the cruiser overton posted has a vacuum hose going up to the wipers? afaik, vacuum was only on 25s
