I know this is the 25 section, but unlikely at this point for me to frequent the 150 section, (www.pradopoint.com might get a run) and pretty happy with the new Land Cruiser purchase. Thought I'd share.

Cheers Dobster

Please don't say it has a diesel. If we want a gasser with can get the GX460 with a V8. All it take is a little extra coin:rolleyes:

Congrats. Looks like I might even get a ride in it. Cheers.

Haven't heard from you in a while Archie, how has everything been going?

Rust belt heads south for the winter

I havent figured out what's going on but my best guess is with global warming ADOT figures that they won't be needing all the salt they have stored up so using as quick as they can. Less than four inches of snow and the road was dry later that day.:frown:

You call that salt? That is pretty sad, no more rust free Arizona vehicles.

I didn't get a picture of the rust repair I had to do on the 100. On the leading edge of the rear fender well the bottom seam had rust in it and was starting to swell. Removed the running board cap then the seam sealer up 6", separated the panel joint, sandblasted, epoxy primed, resealed, and covered with coal tar epoxy. Just bought some time, it will be back. :bang:

You are correct. Nobody should ever buy a AZ vehicle ever again, they are all rust buckets.

Notice I posted a picture of the spare tire pulled out. When I rinse the underside off I'm serious about it. My poor 100 is the only cruiser to see the salted roads. Most the time I get lucky and drive back south in the snow which turns to rain and unsalted roads. If not it gets parked in a warm dry garage until I can rinse. Costco here offers a car wash underside rinse I also use to help out. Thirty-eight years of rinsing off the mud from my first FJ40 I have plenty of practice. I will admit the 100 series has more hidden places underneath than the early FJ40.

Didn't realize you had to do rust repair to the 100 series  Anthing here that needs more than some rear sill repair we have two words for "Scrap Metal"

We think of nothing else but diesels here - the petrol hardly even sells and everyone bemoans the fact the FJ Cruiser isn't sold with a diesel motor. Nothing like filling up and having a cruising range of 900 miles.

If it stays below freezing, better off leaving it outside. When ice/ snow turns to water is when the salt/ mag chloride takes over :(

True but the problem is Northern Arizona is high desert with large temperature swings. Staying below freezing the whole day doesn't happen very often in the winter. For that reason my 100 series is the only cruiser that gets used on the salted roads. The warm garage is in the Phoenix area where single didgit humidity is common. By the time I drive back to the Phoenix area the vehicle is either dry or wet because it was raining on the trip back. With the rain I get a better rinse than I could do. The garage keeps the morning dew off the cruiser. Even here in AZ it's common to find some rust on the rear sill of a FJ40 from dirt build up. It's no accident my 68 is still rust free.

Merry Christmas Everyone!
:bounce::bounce2: If I'm on here Christmas eve or morning, I'm doing the wrong thing when kids and grandkids are around. :bounce2::bounce:

Hope.everyones was.good. i got my white.xmas (it just involved a slight drive to.idaho) and.im hoping we're bringing the snow.home.to colo with us for.a white new years.

Daughter and I spent a couple hours there getting her rear control arm and pw switch recall done. She asked, so I had to point out everything that wasn't correct. ;p Didn't notice the spare carrier bracket until now though. They should put up a sign, because there isn't a person there who has a clue what it is.
