No, just expanding the phone/interweb thing out to mancamp. The big deal is this:

Looks nice Phil. Is there still enough room in the airplane hanger to put itor are some 25s being out? I like it, we now have a express FJ25 parts delivery system. You an fly that soft top down and I"ll if I can't get made with all our cheap labor.

Oh, that is very nice indeed

Do you still have the old Cub? ...you did have a Cub...or am I mistaken?

Knowing Phil he probably hoarding and still has it. Starting a second fleet this time with planes.

Phil better hold a few weeks before you bring the soft top down. It's been 114 degrees the last two days in Peoria.:crybaby: I'm only about three or four miles from the Glendale air port where you would fly in (sorry I don't have a private air strip for you to land like you have at home) and I know heat effects small planes more than the larger jets.:meh:

I understand our moderator has very limited internet access right now. Do you think this would be a good time to start a thread on my new 1970 FJ40 I'm working at bring back to stock? If this was another section on Mud it wouldn't be a problem it would be a page or two in by the time he was able to check in. In the 25 section it might make it a couple of threads down from the top on the first page. Can you say sloooow section. I'm thinking of doing a weekly bump to some of the threads just to generate some more interest. Weather should be cooling off soon time to get back to restoring.

Thought?

I'm not hoarding, I am simply the Northern Rockies Central Clearing House for parts, nearing the grand opening date.

Do a side by side comparo/resto with the 40 and a 25. I have wanted to sneak the patrol in this way, A side by side road test, maintenance kind of thing with a 50 year perspective.

So do we need to send you our email so we are notified of the grand opening date?

I wonder if we could start a non early cruiser thread which we could use but to be honest as slow as this section is it could hurt to expand it. My reasoning would be 70 was the final year of the single circuit brake system so make that the new cut of date. Or only mudders who also have a FJ25 can post other vehicles here. That would seem fair wouldn't. You want to post something else here go out and buy a 25. For those interested I would be willing to help you out with the sale of one of mine:grinpimp:

Edit: I been thinking and I don't think this is the right spot for a Nissan Patrol. I think you should just PM Woody and have him create a nice section for Nissans. Looking down the forum page they have everthing else why not a Nissan section.:meh: Hell you probably end up higher on the page than the 25 section. The 150 series is up at the top and no post in a month but we are at the bottom:hhmm:

Three posts from Phil is less than twenty-four hours, is the world coming to a end:hhmm:

Funny thing: there is a Nissan section, and I have posted there. I know, I'm a slut.

Maybe for you a thread like "LITP John's 25 Garage", a combo chat/25/40/AZ weather/what's rust/closet hoarder thread:D I would do one also: Phil's Hangar, with photos of dumb helicopters and airplanes with 25s and Patrols in the back ground, and maybe a mountain.

Or a small, small glacier I flew over a while back...

So Phil, just what did you get, sorry to say they all look the same to me. :frown: Definately cover more territory in the aerial search for parts and more room for spotters too. :D

I'm liking the dueling Nissan / Toyota resto thread idea. We need someone to pick up the slack around here in the 25 section now that Destins 40 is done. :p

Update: New wheel cylinders all the way around. All back together and driving well. I'd really like to get some more of the slop out of the steering. Maybe this winters project.

Fall Gathering here I come!

Ha, ya I figured as much. Too bad the PO also re-tapped the hole in the bellhousing for a 1/2" bolt. The stock bolts for the trans to bellhousing are some weird size like an M13x1.5? I dont have a tap or thread chaser that size in any of my kits.

I got the drive shafts, e-brake, and shift levers back on. The clutch seems to engage ok, but I'm going to do the adjustment procedure from the fj25 CD. I got the drivers seat in so I could work the clutch pedal and it feels smoother than before. So then, I hit the brake pedal and in true FJ25 finicky fashion, it goes to the floor. I check the reservoir and its dry. I think the rebuild on the wheel cylinders didnt take. There were no puddles on the floor but there is evidence of a leak on the inside of two of the tires.

This doesn't belong in chat. Something this tech needs it own thread. I even vote we give fall gathering it's own thread each year. Looks like I might be taking a 25 this year to go see fall colors. If I do I'm going to start a new thread. with the 25:idea:

4x4 Show - Promotors Choice Winner

So we headed off early on Saturday morning my eldest son and I. He loves travelling in the Cruiser with no roof "It goes really fast" (Might be the only time it gets that comment).

We lined up against the other entrants and were positioned outside the door from the pavillion to the outdoor arena (highest traffic area). The competition ranged from winch challenge trucks to newer tidy vehicles through to a 75 cruiser called the Ghost Rider that had everything - and I mean everything.... Who puts a radar dome on the roof rack of a cruiser... (Apparently he hasn't hit any Cargo Ships yet). I reckon he had spent a few hundred thousand on it.

Any way of the four prizes, Sponsors Choice and Best in Show - Ghost Rider (Natural winner as he single handedly increased ARB's sales by 5% last year), Best exhibotrs 4wd (4WDTV's FJ40 - 4wdtv.com.au) and Promotors choice - yours truly.

A pic or two at the show and the winnings.

Cheers Dobster

That is one sexy 25, where'd you find it? :D

Glad to see the family enjoying that rig. Now you better get some correct hubcaps, before we tip off the next show. ;p

Care to share the artwork for the poster board? I always wanted one for when I go to shows.

Happy to - anyone who wants the PDF send me a PM with your email address and I'll send it through.

Essentially though it is the brochure from Jim's Scanning work.

I'm thinking the correct wheels too. Just trying to figure out what I could get in exchange for a a set. Nice 2H maybe a H55F out of a HJ47.:hhmm:

Some bloke who didn't know what he had.sold it to me ;).

I thought about the Hubcaps I have but didn't have any with holes. I ordered some of Mike's reproductions and hoped thry'd get here but alas they didn't make it on time.

Lots of great comments on the restoration, Jim.. As I was leaving someone even picked the Aussie Locker sound. This bloke is a bit of a legend in the industry though.

I'm sure I could find you a nice 2F or even a dodgy one. There would be way more of them lying around than the correct wheels over here.:)

2F isn't really high on my list. Have to many old cruisers that should have F engines running 2Fs. Funny all these 2Fs are 75/76 (early 2F) and run great. FJ25 wheels are probably rarer over there than a good six cylinder Toyota diesel is here. But still not that common.

Alright then .... Maybe I can find a 2H...:D.... I'd want five Painted Rims

Dobster reminded me.........I went to the COMVEC (Conn. Military Vehicle) show in the spring. One of the few times I drove the 25 this year. When I pulled in the lot to park, much to my surprise (and I asked if they were sure about it) they asked me to put it in the show. Other than a couple Rovers mine was the only piece of iron not made in the USA. No prizes, I was just happy they recognized it for what it was. Pictures aren't mine they belong to Tony who was kind enough to snap a picture and post it on the COMVEC site.

I was in the civilian section, there were a couple sweet CJ-2's, a CJ-6 wrecker creation with original period parts, and a super cool original cutaway dealer demonstration rig in a trailer.
