Spotted my first real-life FJ Cruiser this morning. At Regency Toyota on the corner of 12th and Kingsway in Vancouver.

Was parked right on the corner of the lot to show it off. Smart manager, that's what I'd do.

Looked in need of a few goodies though... like a lift kit, winch, bigger tires, lots of mud, and my grinning face behind the steering wheel.

buddy, wait till the lease backs are rolling in, the value will drop dramaticly. just like the other flash backs...
everyone and their dog wants one now, once they are prevelent everywhere then the appeal and value will drop...
of course this is my opinion..
cheers

Wayne, there's no way I'd trade my 80 for a FJ... maybe for an FJ and some cash!

=: )

nah, i didn't think so...
i think the FJ will be a good off roader, don't get me wrong, it is just the "everyone wants one" syndrome. if they said we will be producing 1000 a year for the entire NA Continent then i would be intrigued...
cheers

lets see, in 1987 there were 500+/- BJ70s sold...
4000 units first year? flooding the market,
excellent. can hardly wait for (what is it? 3 or5 years) when the lease back come rolling in...

Well, today, I spotted 3 FJ's. One at Open Road in Richmond. It has the C package incl rr locker. The stock lift looked pretty good. Loads of wheel clearance. Price, incl PDI is $38K + change. They claim w. 4.0 ltr motor it gets 21 in city and 27 hwy (mi/imp gal). Open Road says they have 4 on the lot.

I also saw one going north on Hwy 99 and another on a car carrier on way to dealer. So.... they have finally hit the market.

open road was hiding a bunch behind the building yesterday with one on display. They listed 2 as sold that day on the sale board. while we were there a super enthusiastic guy went for test drive saying "this is really cool I really want this". Trouble is he could not get his wife to ride with him and she was cracking jokes about it and talking about what car they'd really get. Then my wife didn't actually want to drive it during the test drive and laughed at our kids when they urged her to buy it (they loved it).

so there is a yellow base manual with a locker arriving at jim pattison surrey in 2 weeks that was going to be ours but not any more. They also have two other manuals on the lot if anyone is looking for a stick shift. These are cool trucks and, in my view, an amazing value for the money in a stick base, but they are not exactly wife friendly ;) .

not bad for 30k. i was at toyota yesterday getting parts and i had a quick look at the truck. Much better in person than on the internet
