I love my 40 but the driving position really bothers my knee and ankle, I have to twist them a bit to actuate the pedal. It really tweaks my leg for a good while after I get out of the car. I have the stock seats in my 40 and they're all the way back (or as far as the 1.5" or so of travel they seem to have), and Id like to replace them to get more room.

My daily driver is an FJ Cruiser and I put a lot of mile on it. Personally, i'm super comfortable in the stock FJ Cruiser seats.

Earlier this summer I was able to pick up drivers and passengers side set of FJ Cruiser seats from a junkyard for about $150.

Ive looked into the Corbeau seats conversion which looks to be around $1K after seats and brackets and shipping.

Since I already have a pair, and like the comfort, I was wondering if anybody has created a bracket, template... or anything to help me fit these seats into my 40. Im not looking to retaining any of the wired connections to the seats that an FJ Cruiser would have, just make them fit and be safe in the 40.

Any info you have would be greatly appreciated.

FJC seats are going to be a tight fit in a 40 I'm thinking. I don't know of anyone who's tried that yet, sorry.

What year is your Cruiser? There are three basic styles. Four if you count the really early years. Those you needed to loosen four bolts to adjust the driver's seat.

I don't think fjcruiser seats would work well. I think it will still be tough on your ankle. With my seat setup I just did not long ago I drove all day this past weekend and didn't notice any knee or ankle discomfort. My recommendation is find something with a very short seat bottom, not a tall seat bottom like the fjcruiser has. Then tilt the seat bottom significantly so the whole seat leans back. This has been a very comfortable position for me in a fj40.

What seat did you choose and did you have to make a bracket? I dont have any metalworking skill, ill have to find a friend or a shop.

I would set the fjcruiser seat in the driver side with wood blocks n see if it will work or not for sure since u have them. I used mr2 seats. I considered supra seats as well. Here is a pristine set for a good price. 84-89 Toyota MR2 MK1 OEM front seats assembly STOCK factory black/red stitching | eBay
Brackets will need to be fabbed. U can see the brackets in my build thread at the bottom link.

They do look nice in your rig, did you just use some cardboard to make a template for the bracket?

Anybody else got any good info about moving the stock seats around?
