Fj 55 in San Antonio

I saw an fj 55 for sale in SA( craiglist October 17). Is this guy on th SA club? have been trying to contact we no luck...

I got a few emails exchanged with the owner of the fj55 and the last I heard from him he had got it running. I asked him several times for a price but he would not give me a clue. truck has some rust in usual places but looked fixable, of course they were pictures so it could be worse. He doesn't seem very interested in selling it, more like seeing if anybody would be interested. I also noticed it had what he called a "safari top". I've never heard of that so I don't think its factory. does anybody know if that was an option on a 55?

Usually a safari top is a soft top used on jeeps/40's. I haven't seen pics of this 55, but did he cut the roof off?

Ya that's what I thought never heard of one on a 55 unless homemade? but he claimed it was rare OE option, here's some pics. I'm no longer interested but I did want to know if this was actually an option or not.

No not a manufacturer option. It might have been something that specific dealer was doing.

I would imagine that could add both the the rust nightmare and body integrity problems. I wanted to do something similar to mine but quickly came to my sense after doing some research. I wont do anything until I cave the roof in or break out a bunch of glass and then it will become a real bikini top with a cage.
