TJM 4" lift

Installed the TJM 4" springs and shocks yesterday...:)

Installation was pretty straight forward. The only tricky spot I ran into was installing the spring for the R/F. I couldn't get the axle to drop far enough to pop in the new spring. What I ended up doing was grabbing the stock bottle jack that came with the truck and placing it between the axle and the frame to spread them apart. This method worked really well! I wish I had a pic for reference, but forgot to take one during the excitement.

So being as I'm about to start the very same project, what made you go TJM springs, shocks, damper vs say Slee or Ironman?

I read a lot of members threads on their experiences and opinions. Then looked at the products on the websites. Then I make a decision based on how I think it fits what I like/want while considering price point/value...

While I try my best to weed out what I think is lower quality or overpriced parts, it's still a crap shoot right??? I just try and do my best on what I feel fits me,...while getting the best results.

I know it's not a black and white answer, but it's how I make most of my decisions..:)

Just came across a thread on needing to adjust the LSPV after installing a suspension lift here. Never realized this was needed..:meh:

Only took a few minutes, so I'm happy I got something done today.

Marked my spots in preparation for my Slee caster plates and enjoying the smell of burning metal in the morning! Has to be one of my favorites scents...

First notch done!

Slee caster plate

Managed to get the first side done. Trying to rotate the axle to get the bolts to line up was a little tricky...but pulling down on a pry bar between the axle and the top front of the control arm, I was able to get the bolt in.

Now on to the other side..:bounce:

Was able to get the driver side caster plate installed too. When lining up the rear control arm holes I found it useful to use a strap to bring the axle back. This saved a lot of time, and made it way easier...:bounce:

Front panhard installed plus a test drive!

I took advice and used a longer bolt and nut to temporarily fix the stripped nut for the front panhard bar. I used a strap from the tow hook to the axle to line up the bushing holes. I think I will have a fab shop cut the bracket and fix it the right way as soon as possible though, as I don't feel comfortable with the fix. I have all OEM tie rod ends coming from Sam in Georgia as well as the front sway bar links.

Despite those issues, I finished buttoning up the LC and was able to take it for a test drive to get some lunch. I was only able to get it up to 50 mph and it drove just as well as the stock height lift! I was very pleased to say the least. No vibrations, no bad steering, tracked straight, and braked just fine with the new pads, rotors and brake fluid flush...:steer:

While waiting for my new ball joints to come in I did some prep work... First I measured the joints installed depth, then removed each one. Proof in the pics.

Looks great dude! I think the next step needs to be to remove those fender flares.

I was thinking of removing my flares too but, I read that there would be a bunch of holes in the fenders underneath the flares.... Is that true? If not, I'll ditch 'em in a heartbeat!

You will have some holes and some metal tabs to remove...I like the look of my flares and plan on keeping them for now. I just need to replace the one that is missing.
