In 2022 @bigCatdiesel gave me his third row seats out of his 1995 FJ80. I immediately installed one of them into my FJ40 so I could fit three people in my FJ40. Details of installing the first seat is in the thread Builds - What did you do to your Land Cruiser/Toyota/Lexus 4X4 this week? - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/what-did-you-do-to-your-land-cruiser-toyota-lexus-4x4-this-week.763164/post-14364721

Last year I needed a fourth seat in the FJ40 for Cruise Moab so I welded up a quick mount for the second FJ80 seat. Since there is no room for two FJ80 seats side-by-side between the wheel wells, the second seat had to sit on top of the wheel well and only a short person could sit in it without smashing their head on the roll bar.

I need two rear seats in the FJ40 for Cruise Moab again this year, so I modified the FJ80 seats so they can fit between the wheel well in my FJ40.

I cut out 3.5 inches out of the center of each seat frame and foam padding and squished the remaining between the wheel wells. I was going to modify the pleather to fit the smaller frames, but now see that although the excess material looks amateurish, it doesn't affect the operation of the seats - they fold down as designed, and have the same two original FJ80 upright settings available. I may be able to stuff the excess material into the seats, but I don't really think it is necessary.

Welding was a disaster because of the enormous amount of rust on the seat frames. Welds are not pretty, but these seats will never break apart due to the cr@ppy welds.

Very nice, I may have to copy your methods.

or you could have just trained one of the people to drive your Taco behind you . . .

Funny you should mention that . . .

My nephew is bringing his Taco to Cruise Moab for the first time this year.

We will have four family members riding in each vehicle.

Don’t know if he will be in front of us or behind tho :)
