Hi All,
I have always been a fan of LCs since I was a kid, so just bought a 2013 LX 570 with 87k miles at an auction, sight unseen & no PPI( I know ) for $29k. The fees, shipping and registration might bring the total up to $35k. And also it has lived in NY all its life.

Please cut me some slack and tell me what I should look for after getting the vehicle. My budget is $5k for repairs. What would you think might be needed immediately assuming it’s a poorly maintained vehicle.

What should I do before driving the vehicle, it might roughly 2 weeks before I can get my hands on it though.

Rust would be the primary concern. Rust can corrode the AHC system, which might one day lead to a failure. I would wait until it arrives, check for rust, and then plan on getting a PPI with a Toyota or Lexus dealer. Your location Means that future rust shouldn’t be a problem. New rubber would be my first mod. Congrats on the purchase!

I'd just go over it really well, change all fluids, inspect the radiator for the potential death crack, look for any other leaks, and fix what you find. Unless the rust is completely out of control, I'd say you did pretty well on price.

Do you have the service records? If not, I think the first thing to do is to setup an account with Lexus.com and add the VIN so that you can see any records. It may not have everything that has been done if the PO used an independent shop, but you should just go ahead and assume that any service not listed was probably not done.

For certain you will want to do the 60k mile service which includes the AHC flush. You can have them check for any rust related issues then.

Thanks for the reply. What do you recommend doing if there is a lot of rust.

Thanks for the reply. I did setup the account and it looks like a lot of the services were done at an Indy shop. Will do the AHC flush and all other oil changes too. I know of a reliable Indy shop here, do you recommend getting it done at the dealer or at an Indy shop

That’s a good question. This is such an infrequent service item that it seems like most techs have never done it, even at the dealers. If you know a good shop that can follow the FSM then it should be fine. A lot of folks on here have done it with no issues. I personally have mine serviced at a local Lexus dealer because I have a good relationship with them and they love my truck.

Thank you I am also trying to reach out to fellow 200 owners in the Phoenix area to check how they are doing it.

nice work! i recently purchased my 1st LX/LC. I bought a 2011 LX570 w/ 95k miles. My 1st order of business was new rims and tires, then I replaced ALL the fluids including AHC. Rims and tires were just over 3k and the full maintenance was about $1k, I did it a the dealership. I've got to go back and deal with the TPMS sensors i bought with the KO2s at Discount Tire, they don't seem to work. Service records show my car has had some trouble with the door lock actuators a few times, and ALOT of brake services. I have my eyes on a Prinsu rack next.

Wow thanks for the numbers. It’s so helpful. 1k for all fluids is not bad IMO. I might hold off on the wheels and will do the tires when needed. Just googled Pinsu and they look beautiful. Please post some pictures after you do the mods.
