2021 200…at what mileage is it recommended for first oil change??
Read something about factory fill having a special purpose, etc.

Thx all!

I just did my first one at 5000 miles. I wish I would have done it at 2500. 10k is the interval but oils cheap.

I have no official toyota voodoo to know the best time and mileage, but for every new car and truck I have owned I prefer to change oil and filter at 5000 mile intervals with the first one at 2000 to 3000 miles. My reasoning is that oil is cheap and engines are expensive. New engines, even high quality porsche , bmw , toyota engines have some wear and some small metal parts when new. I would prefer to get new mobil 1 full synthetic or your favorite changed rather soon.

Did mine at 2500 on my 2020 and put 5W30 M1 Synthetic in. Did another at 7500.

There were visible metal shavings in the filter.

I always change a new car at 2500

Toyota recommends 10,000.....I would go manufacturer recommendations. Oil is cheap but you get 2 years of Toyota Care. I would def keep those service records....

I did my first one at 4k miles. Bought the oil and filter from my dealership and did it myself. I'll probably take it in at the 8k mark and have the dealership do it. Or maybe not! Not sure I trust them to put everything back correctly.

What’s in it for them to recommend 10,000 as the first one?

Bmlittle. Toyotas warranty ends before your lack of maintainance will destroy an engine than can last easily over 500 k miles. I will tell you when I shop for a used truck that a vehicle with 10k oil changes is easily worth 5000 dollars less to me than one with 5000 mile changes. I consider 10k oil changes as an abused vehicle or at least an owner that has no reguard for his car. If you plan on selling your truck at 50 k miles or even 75 k miles the truck will run for you.. you could at that point go to 15 k or 20 k oil changes ..
It depends on at some point if you care if your truck is well cared for. I can say when I buy a used porsche or bmw or a used toyota I can instantly look at your service records and see if its worth buying. People that change trans fluid and change coolant and brake fluid more often sell me cars and I may pay another 5 grand to get a well cared for one.

Toyota or any car maker wants to sell you a new car when your vehicle fails and needs a new transmission and engine. Its out of warranty. My company does 5000 mile oil changes because its cheaper for them to drive company vehicles 400 k miles and more. Big companies go to the effort to do oil analysis and do frequent oil changes because its beyond cost effective. It saves them money.
I think oil changes are cheap. But some folks prefer to buy vehicles more often . My cessna twin engines cost 87 grand to replace.. maybe i should consider not doing oil changes as often. ??

2500 miles. 5000 mikes. 10000 miles. In the end it doesn’t matter one iota. Not one. Ever seen a powertrain teardown of a modern engine after a full duty cycle test? I have. Zero wear. Zero. Engines in modern cars don’t wear out on any timescale modern buyers care about. I have a 440,000 mile LC100. Bought it new. Changed the oil per the maintenance recommendations. I guarantee - no wear. What’s going to kill any of these Land Cruisers, other than a total lack of maintenance, is rust or electrical problems. That’s it. So we can debate all we want but in the end your vehicle will have been traded off long before the engine wears out and needs a rebuild.
