First off roading trip with my 100 series LX470

Also, did you actually notice your LX go into the "extra high mode" when you engaged low range while in H? I tried it and the truck definitely didn't move. Do you have to put the truck back in park for it to go up higher?

'Extra High' mode only occurs when:

1. The vehicle is in Low Range.
2. AHC height is already set to High Mode.
3. One or more wheels 'free wheel'.

(The vehicle senses the speed difference and assumes you are 'stuck' on something or motion is being impeded because the body/frame are in contact with something.)

No, there's no gas between Moab and Zion. And watch out for Indians too.

And lots of coyotes - watch out for those coyotees.

Would you mind sharing a GPS route when you return? I keep dreaming about a solo trip (I don't have friends) through Moab but haven't figured out the most scenic route. Thank you.
I started playing around with off road routes from Moab area to Zion and sort of ended up with this 419 mile from Green River UT to Zion almost entirely on fire roads. I have no idea if this is a 2,3 or 10 day endeavor.

someone should find a way to trick system into getting into extra high mode with the push of a button that would be so epic, a 3" lift on demand.

yes thats the exact route i want to take, where did you stop by for gas on this route?

I haven't driven this at all -- just a theoretical. The town of Boulder looks like it has services though and is about half way. If I eventually drive this route, I'd be comfortable with full tank + 5 gallons. There are enough bailout points to reset if things aren't going well.

You're right, there's a gas station in Boulder, Sinclair, probably sh!t gas and make your truck misfire but better than being stranded. This route is something i might do while im there.

'Slee Off Road' has an AHC override that will let you 'lock' the system in High Mode, but wouldn't get you to Extra High.

Probably be a liability issue if someone were to come up with one.

Yeah I'm not interested in always being in high mode because losing on safety, comfort and MPGs... thanks for the tip though.

You wouldn't be 'stuck' in high mode...the circuit board allows two functions (normal automatic operation, or override). It simply gives you the ability to lock the AHC in high mode (by flipping a toggle switch) or not.

oh thanks for clarifying that, actually sounds great when offroading and connecting trails to avoid having to push high multiple times when going above 19mph.
