Here are few pictures of where I'm talking about, Ali.

The FE is going to mount near the driver side rear seat belt. There's plenty of metal and spots to mount to, and it's right behind the front seat (with the handle mounted forward) so all you have to do is open up the rear door and its right there. Since it's mounted up on the wheel well, it shouldnt get in the way of the seat or passengers.

The lower bolt that holds the seat belt housing has at least 1/2" of threads left after the nut, so there's plenty of bolt there to add the bracket to. The front body molding tucks under the rear piece, so i'll notch the plastic (where the green lines are in the pic) so the bracket comes out where the two pieces join. I drilled holes in the interior panel of the Rover and it looked like crap when I moved it, so this way you dont have holes all over if you do move it later.

Hope that makes sense... I think im going to mount it friday when im off.

Excellent location. That should work. In my case, I have a barrier that may get in the way but will check that area out.

Bought a bracket from a local shop, and i think it was well worth the money. Made the install much easier since the bracket that came with it was just made to hang on a wall.

EDIT: Pictures were HUGE so here's a link with the pictures of the mount and final product.

Now, I like THAT bracket. Let me have some info and I'll see if I can duplicate your install. You did a nice job - elegant and not overkill. Are you confident in the abilities of those two rubber things to hold on to the FE during a collision?

Coming in to this thread late: Why not just use Quick Fists? You could, if direct mounting wasn't an option, a simple bracket frame to mount to the interior somewhere and then the QF mounts to that bracket?

I've been super pleased with the 4-QF's I have had on the Slee rear bumper that hold my shovel to the Hi-Lift for the past 5-years!

Or install a sub-woofer, like someone I know did :D, and mount the FE to that?

I trust the rubber straps. They're feel solid, and only stretch a little bit to allow you to secure them in the mounts. I think it would be a huge amount of force to stretch those straps to breaking point. The FE isn't mounted facing straight forward in the vehicle, so I dont think all the energy would be exerted on the straps alone. Here are a few links to the brackets, and it says they're made for automotive use (and are used in emergency vehicles.)

I mounted it really close to the body, so that made it a bit tricky getting the trim panels back in with the plastic pop rivet gizmos, but I was still able to do so.

For the 5# I have on order, I plan on securing it with a pair of quickfists on my rear side MPAC rack. But if it shows any signs of becoming a projectile, I'll replace with some quick release steel straps.

You won't be let down by the Quick Fists: They're well made!

Honestly, I've never even heard of these until now! Ill definitely keep them in mind for when I build the rear bumper.

I have two of the mondo QF's that I may think about using as a FE holder. Now, where did I put them for safe keeping.....

Very useful...available in several sizes as you probably saw...and they're highly UV resistant/proof per my experience.

Here's a photo of my rough extinguisher install. I'm going to put some toolbox draw liner under the extinguisher to soften any bounce I might get off road, find a better way to keep the hose from banging about (likely a velcro strap), and then tighten the hell out of straps.

Nice install. I have a little plastic piece that slides over the extinguisher and hooks the hose if you need it.

Right next to all the other stuff you didn't want to misplace and can't find.:flipoff2:

I probably have every size fastener on the planet somewhere in my garage, if I could only find the one I need when I need it. My biggest downfall is the Home Depot right down the street, most times it's faster to run down there and buy something than try to find it in my garage.

Your garage is NOT messy Dan. Well, at least in my opinion :)

But you are right, sometimes it is easier to just go get new stuff instead of rooting around for the old one.

Btw, enjoying reading the ham magazines. I read a few chapters in the ARRL book/guide. Gettting closer to finishing it one day lol. Thanks again.
