we had carpet cut for testing but haven't found a good solution for adhering it. know of some folks who had them powder coated with good results, painted with steel it with good results, etc.


with the high thermal conductivity of aluminum, your skin/flesh will cool it off pretty quick (jkjkjkjk)
Not quite the same application, but similar: I've bonded Aquatread to motorcycle gas tanks as grip pads using 3M Headliner Adhesive. So the application is a porous synthetic product bonded to metal that sees large temperature swings and it has held up flawlessly for years on a few different bikes. It's a spray contact cement similar to their Super 77, but specifically designed for automotive headliners. Might be worth a try.
