Can anyone tell me how much depth of storage there is to play with in the tailgate?

About 4" depth in the ends and 2.5 - 3" depth over the license plate area. Door opening is 48" x 10".

Nope not yet. Have cut a few prototypes for test fitting, need to adjust hole placement, and source hinges (they have been difficult to get as of late, at least good quality ones that have consistent hole placement). Moving forward though.

Yes, that is exactly what we are addressing via integrated changes in manufacturing technique, and an added piece of metal.@Delta VS , I spoke to a mechanic recently who had installed 2 or 3 of these and apparently when you cut all that metal out, it can cause some flexing in your tailgate. Something to consider for your design tweaks.looking forward to finally buying one of these.

I've had mine for about a year and have used it a number of times....not a single failure in any part of the construction or design so far. I wouldn't worry about it. I haven't even heard about any latch issues at all with this product. Either way you go, this is such an awesome, useful mod.

I've had my back bay customs tailgate storage for about a year and a half. I have a lot of stuff in there and haven't seen any tailgate flexing as of yet.
I'm looking forward to the Delta fresh look at this epic storage solution. So much space, full factory service manual, tools, all kinds of stuff, Amazing locking storage.
