Finally pulled the trigger on the lift (4" progressive)

The TJM progressives are just that - there are no firmness options, the firmness increases as load increases.

To Alex---Nice Lift. How much did dependable charge you to install the lift?

If you are looking for Wheels, Imperial Tire in Whittier has Black wheels for $500 for all four. Ask for Art..

It cost 500 to have it installed and Steve also took care of a couple of other issues.

That looks great and surprisingly leveled....i think once you get those adjustables dialed in that wobly thing you are describing will firm up :) ( unless your sway bars are not connected )....what did you do for caster?I noticed that the springs are black did it come that way?
TJM 4" lift which one did you get mediums, hard, sport or is there only one kind?
Also is there any driveshaft vibrations on or off gas? at high and low speeds?

We used the cc bushings from TJM

Yes, I was glad they came black and I mentioned it to the TJM guys, they said they were responding to the US market by having them black and they were also keeping the chrome bumpers in Australia .

They are the progressive coils which feel very soft like a newer car but they offer more resistance progressively

I was worried about the vibrations because of the height of the lift but I drove it again today and it is smooth. I called Steve and he said the caster measured 3.1 after the lift so it is right on spec if Im not mistaken.

Mine felt wobbly on the highway, and it was that the CC bushings were not enough to fully correct the caster on the 4.5 inch lift. Besides the bushings were toasted in about a little over a year. I replaced the CC bushings with OEM, and used the MAn-A-Fre caster plates. The difference was day and night! Now the truck runs like when it was stock, firm, no wobbles.

where did you purchase your lift? I am interested in a 4" lift for mine!

I got it at Dependable offroad in Anaheim, but you can call the guys at TJMUSA.com and they can direct you to the closest dealer.

After adjusting the shocks, it rides so much better than stock.

WOW!!!!!!!!! Night and day. Looks bad ass!!!!!!! And yes you will need new shoes on that truck.

I haven't had a chance to take it on the dirt and give it a real shake down yet but finally got the shoes !

Looking really good with the new rubber! What size did you end up going with? Is it much slower with the bigger size?

Trail Grappler 35 x 17. I was expecting it to be slower with these heavy tires but I can't tell the difference from the 33's. It's weird but I think it actually feels smoother and shifts better.

@Alexbv Your truck looks nice - What are you doing with your factory wheels ?? If your selling I may be interested...

Looks great! I love the color combo on your rig, I think it's because the first built Lx I ever saw was that color. My next 80 will resemble yours.

That looks really good! Love the stance and tires.

What is the hight from centre of hub to wheel arch f/r? Need to see if my LX will fit in garage with 2" more lift.

I'll probably sell them but haven't come up with a price yet. I have all five and they have the Bfg AT 305's. The spare tire is still brand new.
Pm me with an offer if you are interested or want more details.

From center of hub to front fender (not flare) 25.5"
to rear fender 25"

I just installed my TJM 4" on non-progressives. My suspension topped out like yours, roughly 25" f/r from hub center to bottom of the flare. It's a little taller in the front but I don't have any weight on it yet, I haven't installed my ARB with winch or supercharger yet. I seem to have gained ~7" over my saggy soft LX springs, a little more than I bargained for, but the 4" measurement is over the "out of the factory" ride height I guess.

I didn't escape driveline vibration though, it's pretty bad on the front end. Adding weight may make the driveline happier, but I see a double carden drive shaft in my future. I corrected caster with plates. I have no steering weirdness going on, it feels stock.

Overall I'm happy with TJM's part quality, it's good. The ride is firm, but not harsh.

Rusty,

Did the same lift/caster plates a few weeks ago and had the same vibration issues you describe. Just installed a DC shaft this weekend and all seems ok, no noticeable driveline vibe now.

I found a thread here on using a Tacoma rear DC shaft and re-working it for the front of the LC.. Worked out great.. Not much cheaper than buying a complete DC Shaft from some of the vendors on mud but it's re-built with all new u-joints..

TJM lift is working out great... Only regret thus far is I should have gone 345's instead of 315's...;)

I don't have any vibrations but after checking alignment was surprised to find caster was around neg 3.5 TJM sent me the wrong bushings and they are only for a 2.5 degree adjustment but I don't think the 3.5 is enough for the lift they sell anyway.
I'm pretty sure if I get the caster corrected I will end up with front vibrations and a new driveshaft will be needed. I think for now I will have to live with the caster issue until I add bumpers and other armor weight.

Do you know what caster angle do you have on your truck and how much of an adjustment did those brackets do?

I haven't had an alignment done yet so I don't know what my caster is. I made my decision to go with caster plates based on the majority of the 'Mud community's experience, most declare that bushings don't cut it above 3" of lift. So I wouldn't be surprised that you are having a hard time correcting caster at ~4" of lift. My caster must be within the acceptable ball park, I truthfully cannot tell the difference between stock suspension height steering and post lift height steering, it just doesn't behave any differently in my case.

I don't think that plates are the best answer either, I've found that the Ironman plates that I bought are causing issue with spring perch misalignment. The plates cause the radius arms to drop resulting in them becoming shorter, I found that the springs are catching on the bump stops. I think the proper solution to caster correction is a set of proper length radius arms, they are of course quite costly, and won't eliminate the need for a DC shaft.

Looks great. I'm curious what part numbers the springs are. I just ordered 4" springs from tjm and didn't think they were progressive. Just want to see if I got lucky!
