Ended up in the low, hot desert on Saturday. Bought an 06' LX470 in nearly perfect condition with 117k miles.
Left ABQ at 4am in a rental car and got to Scottsdale around 11:30.
Sunrise in Gallup, NM
Sunrise was so bright red, it lit up the entire sky pink.
Finally in AZ. I was surprised how pretty it is there.
Arrived at the Lexus dealer. It was all cleaned up and waiting for me.
Thing was in perfect condition just as the dealer had described so I told him I would take it. Took forever to find a 06' in good condition without an crap load of miles, and not hugely overpriced because of low miles.
After leaving the dealer, I was starving. I realized there was an in-and-out in Scottsdale and I've never tried it. Seemed like a good, quick meal before hitting the road. Definitely enjoyed it more than 5 guys, but its still just a fast food burger.
I actually sat in the parking lot and pulled the dash/radio apart to install the VIAS tech bluetooth module so I could jam on the way home. There was a couple who pulled up and started eating next to me. They kept looking over giving me weird looks. Pretty sure they thought I was pulling the dash apart to hot wire it or something.
Found a little pull off on the side of the road to take some more pictures before the sun went down.
Finally home by 9:45
Went out to take some pictures of the interior yesterday.
It's very obvious this thing was babied. Its the best condition one I have seen that has more than 60k miles. Its pristine for a 10 year old vehicle. Really, It could pass for a 2-3 year old vehicle. Pretty sure the 3rd row has never had a person sit in it. The second row was not far behind. Not a single stain anywhere on the carpet. The tailgate barely had any scratches on the plastic. This thing was definitely driven by someone who respected it.
The old ride I sold to get this one: 05' 4Runner with 100k miles. It was a good truck but very rough around the corners. The previous owner is the one with lifted it and definitely was rough on it.
Overall, I'm super happy to trade up from the 4runner. The 4runner had a questionable past and always made me feel like it could blow up any minute. This LX seems like a much better platform to start on and will hopefully last forever. I don't even think its been down a dirt road before. There was 0 dirt anywhere underneath.
Its definitely going to be harder to take this thing down trails vs. the 4runner though. Its so immaculate, every tree branch is going to hurt my soul.
