Power is still more than adequate (the v-8 takes care of that) but the low ratio ain't so low anymore. I can cruise at 80 all day long in 5th no problems... but it likes 4th too. the main issue is that most of the time i find myself in-between 3rd and 4th. Soooo... i'll be regearing here in the next little while. lookin' to go with 4.88's i think. Top priority is to get the rear bumer and sliders on before moab though... which will be tough since i am out of town for work every weekend but one this next month. eek.

yep, those are BFG MT 35x12.50 - 15's :)

thanks for the props guys! makes me feel good about her!

Do you think 4.88's will leave you high in the cruising rpm?

but it should give you first as a good crawl gear!!!

with ye ole' gear calculator it actually put me right back near stock.... maybe a few hundred rpm faster at cruise. The motor really likes it at around 2700-2800rpm.. which should put me at 70. that's just fine... 70mph right where the motor makes it's most happyness sounds good.

plus, it'll keep me from going 80-85 as often as i do now... which i think is a good thing.

the springs are new (7000k miles) hopefully they stay nice and tall. i feel like they will because i already carried a few overloaded loads cross counrty with them and i think they did their "settling". all that being said, i may have to get taller lift shackles by the time it is said and done...

Very nice! And great work on the bumper.

Looks great all around! You said you'd use some spacers, what rims would you recommend then. I'm doing SOA and am going to run 35s on my 60 series. You are using 3.75" backspacing so would you go with 4"? thanks love your look really do, I've got to get rid of my stock bumpers or paint them black. I hate chrome.

A pic of your truck should be in the dictionary and all wikipedia's that reference an FJ60.
She sits perfect. Absolutely perfect.

Great looking 60.
Bumper looks great!
Every time I see a nice, clean bumper (usually home-built) it re-confirms my thoughts that an ARB (while undoubtedly strong) is too big and busy looking on a 60 for my tastes.
The only commercially available bumper that is pretty clean is the 4+.
Great truck and thanks for posting the build up thread link.

Thanks again guys! Bob (BlueHZT60) actually helped push me over the edge by telling me over and over again that it would work.

as far as wheel spacers go, I got some 1.5" spacers that i will more than likely throw on there this next weekend when i get a chance to flex it really well. That's the set-up BlueHZT60 is using and it works so i am copying it!

shameless i know!

Yeah, i liked the arb but after seeing a few in person i thought it sat just too far from the front of the truck, and was a bit too complicated. the tubes would be nice for animal protection, so i may add those in the future... i don't know yet.

I read that 3.75" backspacing will rub that ideally go with 3.5" Where do you find rims with that backspacing? Are there any negatives about adding spacers? So what wheels can you get that won't rub in Black and do not need spacers? thanks

yup, i will more than likely rub with the 3.75" backspacing wheels, that's why spacers are going to be in the mix.

wheels with the 3.75 backspacing are easy to get, any less is hard to find. I looked for a while and while custom wheels are an option, i chose to stick to my 34 dollar a peice steelies and run spacers. way to cheap not to.

plus the wheels i got fit over my 4-runner calipers... others may not.
