I'm planning on redoing my hard top the figerglass top is missing. Can I use any FJ40 fiberglass or just certain years?

I know of a Corrigated hard top here where I live in oregon. I can check if it is for sale. I dont know the condition but the fiberglass is there. Let me kow if you want me to check on it.

does your 62 have the correct corrugated sides? and bi-folding rear door?

Yes sir it does, and the rib catcher (high post).

Thanks for the offer Mike, but all I need is the fiber glass, and hope to locate it locally. I just need to know it any fiberglass will work or do I need certain years.

No prob..

the one major difference is that the old Corr tops were higher...more of a buldge...and some also had a vent in the fiberglass top at the rear center.

i was going to put a newer fiberglass on corr top...but ...never found a newer fiber to put on and then i sold the top...never found out if it was easy...or...needed mod to make it fit.

alot of people told me the fiber newer tops i would run into issues...newer tops lil wider and EDIT: shorter...but...as i said i never did try.

AFAIK

do you have all the pieces other than the fiberglass? door spreaders? do you have bug catcher wing window doors?

Yes 99.9% sure the only thing I can't remember if I have them or not is the spreaders. I haven't done the inventory in a few years. :)

Tops will not interchange. The old top is longer. The back of the hard top on the corrugated is straight up and down, while the later top the back angles in.

Thanks what year did the corrugated top end?

Welcome to my world!!!

I purchased another corrugated top just cause I needed the roof panel also...turns out the whole top was in really good condition, so it worked out really well...plus now I have spare parts! Actually, I am going to make a template of the good top, and fix my old top so that I can have a spare fiberglass roof panel as well. You need to be your own parts supplier when you restore older cruisers.

Corrugated tops stop mid 1965. Look for another 1962 top if you can find one, this way you'll have a few spare parts. ...just my 2 cents.

Have you check with Mark?

Good luck:beer:

Thanks, I have not checked with Mark as of yet. I start planning for things a ways out. So I'll keep my eyes and ears open for a usable top. Which I hope to find with in a reasonable drive. Wish me luck, know that I know what I'm looking for. :)

You might want to check with boulder76 ...he had one for sale a while back, but the shipping to Montreal was retarded...mostly due to the "border".
