Hello Mud-Gurus,

I have this fender rust on the front driver side which has now become a bit bigger and now is a bigger hole since this picture was taken.

What should I do? Short of replacing the fender? Can I do something about it? Will this affect the inner fender ( I dont know what the inner fender is called).

There was a small spot when I bought the car, one month on winter roads in UT and now in ID is making the small spot a lot bigger.

Thanks a lot,
K.

A good body shop will be able to cut that section out and weld in a new section. That is not enough rust to warrant a replacement body panel. Regardless of how it looks, you need to take some sand paper and sand it down to bare metal and spray a new coat to stop it (or slow it down). I have areas where I have dragged on a rock that I have had to sand down and spray. It doesn't look good, but it's better than rust.

Shocking to see that on a 2007! Curious as how that rust started.

Looks to me like the front bumper hit something and the bumper flexed into the fender causing damage that resulted in rust starting.

I would take a peek behind the plastic fender liner. There could be rust under the cladding too.

When installing front mud guards I pulled the fender liner out and you would not believe the amount of dirt, rotten leaves and sand the was removed. Feel sure most accumulate junk there and suggest a good look behind the liner on occasion. If not removed, it creates a great place for rust to start. Mine is from the south and has no rust anywhere. It would have started there at some point.

2006 wow! I also agree get it fixed now . Id water blast the rest of the underneath and look for more. Mike

Thanks all for all the advice. I will get this fixed soon and clean out the junk from behind the liner as well.

Bummer. My 98 doesn't have anything like that and it has always been a northern truck.

Ah NVM, I am just stupid....The part in question is the moulding not the Fender. Duh!

I think you need part #1

Price: $471.

Contact Beno and see if he can get the fender to you at a better price.

A new fender will come without paint. With your truck being white (or any color but black), you'd need to have the hood and front door blended in order to make it look right. If you can live with a patch job, go for it.
