My rear driverside fender flare has started coming loose. I think it was damaged in a fender bender before I bought it. Anyone able to tell me how to fix it? No, I don't want to rip it off. Not looking to go flareless :p

There is studs that are fibreglassed right into the flare. Chances are one broke loose. You can try and take a look through the hatch that the jack is in to see what is up, but if it’s broke off the flare will have to be removed to be repaired.

It looks like there is some sort of adhesive there from the quick glance I gave it earlier. Anyone know if it is supposed to be there or was it the PO's quick fix? Does the black stripping material need to be replaced as well if I take the fender off?

What year is the truck? I had the same thing happen on the opposite side. Best case scenario: You will need to carefully remove the flare, check/replace the tabs that hold in place, check/replace the rubber and metal brackets that hold the mud flap in place, and reapply new weatherstripping adhesive to the rubber strip between the flare and the body (after you clean and remove the old stuff). Worst case scenario: buy an all new flare and new hardware (will run 400+ with new weatherstripping etc.). I think I'm going to do a write up on fixing mine when I get the bracket I've been missing next week. Good luck!

Where do you get the weather stripping and bracket? I am guessing the bracket is bent or broken from the looks of things. Looking forward to your post on how you fixed the other side. I've got a 97.

CruiserDan or Beno will have it.

You'll have to remove the flare to properly assess the damage to the brackets on the flare's back side that hold the plastic body clips. When I ordered a few years ago, CDan had unpainted flares and color-matching gaskets in stock, so a new OEM replacement from a dealer would likely require a trip to a body shop to have the flare painted. The gasket has its own adhesive strip from the factory.

Unfortunately, the metal bracket inside the flare that holds the mudflap in place is not replaceable. You have to buy a whole new flare. The weatherstripping is replaceable but is expensive. Definitely there though if the old stuff can't be reused. Here is the thread where I began trying to track down a replacement bracket. https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/469372-part-number-flare-piece.html

Also, here is an old thread I found for a procedure for reusing the old weatherstripping. https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-...x-fender-flare-rubber-molding.html#post706019

I'll start a new thread when I get mine fixed. Here's pics of what mine looked like before I removed the flare.

FWIW I also have the same problem, it has been previously Sikaflexed back on but is now coming loose again.

I used drywall screws :o to hold it in place at the bottom edge, just above the mudflap area. Not purdy, but it works til I can fix it properly.
