I noticed my left rear fender flare stripping is cracking..which I can't believe for only having 82,000 miles.... anyway what is the best way to put a new molding on the flare. Do I have to remove the flare...or can I "slip" the rubber molding in between the flare and sheet metal?? I think there is some tape on one side of the molding.

you have to remove the fender flare. Not really that difficult. I replaced mine after I ripped the RF flare off. Get it from CDan. Cant remember the price, but not that expensive.
I've had luck with the following procedure. Pull the rest of the molding piece out (if yours is "cracking it may not be original or might have been off/damaged before - never ever heard of that). Use a scraper and 3M Adhesive Remover to remove the remaining junk down to bare rubber. Use 3M Weatherstripping Glue (black), or their similar flourescent green product liberally on the same surface, then simply slide it back in place using a thin blunt object to tap and persuade at the tight spots. Don't pull as you insert it or you'll keep stretching it and end up with a half inch sticking out the end.
I did this on one that was sticking out a bit 10 years ago and then caught on a branch and pulled halfway out. Pulling the flares is a night mare. I noticed this summer it's starting to loosen, but I'll do this every 10 years vs pulling the flare.
You do have to pull the flare, but pulling the flare isn't tough. You have to remove the mudflap, then I believe it's three nuts you have to remove from inside through the jack-hole. There are a couple of posts on the flare that pop out of fender... but don't confuse them with the ones that are bolted on. The service manual is pretty good on that flare, but it goes overboard on the front... like pulling the fusebox, etc.
They have adhesive on the flare side and the fender side with strips of plastic protecting the adhesive. You pull the flares, adhere molding (to the flares), reinstall the flares, then lastly, you remove the adhesive protectant from between the molding and the fender.
You thinking they won't go back on if you build them up too much with truck bed liner near the edges? Is that what you're asking?
I would just not go over the edge of the flare next to the rubber gasket if you are worried about it. If you do then the rubber should give enough for it to bolt back on.

Newbie question - I know from reading the other posts that one must remove the cubby from the rear PS to get at the rear flare and to call Cdan for the rubber. However, anyone have info on how to pull the cubby would be great for this newb.
