Hi, I was part of the Titan TW12 - 12,000 lbs winch w/ synthetic line (Group Buy) last fall and it's time to fill the hole in my front bumper.

The ECB bumper is alloy and is not strong enough to mount a 12,000 lb winch. I want to mount the winch feet forward and am looking for photos of what others have done to mount their winches, feet forward, behind their bumper.

Thanks in advance,
-Steve

If you're looking to buy a new bumper, I know the ARB winch bumper by default mounts the winches feet forward. The Ironman bumpers mount feet down.

Thanks. I don't want to replace my current bumper (yet). I want to install a winch base behind it.

Fab a 3/16" plate to spread the load across the front bumper and add a bracket to each side that picks up the bumper mount bolts on both frame horns. With a plate installed and tied to the frame you can mount the winch feet forward as the ARB type bumpers do. Think of it as the plate sandwiched between the bumper and the winch.

This is what I would envision as well. It would seem to be a lot easier to mod the harbor freight winch plate and mount it feet down. What is your problem with feet down winches anyway?

I agree it would be much easier to install it feet down, but I'll be happier with feet forward. I expect to use the TW12 at it's maximum capability and am concerned about breaking the winch feet if mounted feet down.

Who knows; I might be worrying about nothing; wouldn't be the first time.

I've not had any issues.

One item to consider, if it hasn't been already, is allowing for access and clearance to engage/disengage the clutch.

Without knowing how much space you have, hard to say if relevant.

You can clock the clutch lever to have it point up regardless of the winch mounting.
