Howdy Texans! Wanted to put out a feeler: My family and I will be roadtrippin' to stay with family in East Texas toward the middle of June and stay through middle of July. Would love to meetup in DFW and/or go scratch up your rigs up in Bridgeport. Any interest?
Depending on exact dates I'm in--not sure how courageous I feel yet on stock suspension with no armor, but would love to do a meetup and spectating/light wheeling
Looks fun! Can a stock 200 participate, or would you recommend some armor?
On a side note, how do your relatives like living in DFW? Been contemplating a move to an area with lower COL and less progressive politics, Dallas has my interest. How would you compare the PNW and DFW wrt how people are, climate, and stuff to do?
Northwest OHV in Bridgeport is a rough park for a 200. I took mine there once, probably won't do it again. My 89 4Runner with a solid axles, dual transfer case and 35" tires is much better suited for that place.
If you are going to be in East Texas, Barnwell Mountain Recreation Area in Gilmer is much better than Bridgeport, although still tough for a 200.

I’ve never been, so all new to me. @TRD Burglar good to know. I watched a lot of YouTube videos and seemed like a lot of variety to choose from but would love to hear more.
@Docboy we fled to the PNW for the opposite reasons that you are looking at DFW so can’t help ya there . But we enjoyed the 12 years we lived in DFW. COL is low and it’s easy to make a great life there. Both my kids where born in Texas and we still have a lot of family that keep us coming back.
Ultimately we wanted four season weather and access to public land and recreation. The PNW just felt right for us.
A group went back in 2018. There was a lifted LC with armor. My LC was stock with KO2s. There was also a stock 2013 LX with street tires. I got some pin stripes, dented my running board (can’t tell unless you look for it) and scraped the underside on the left side or my back bumper (can’t tell unless you look for it). The LX was fine until it punctured one of its tires. Replaced it and continued on. I don’t remember any areas where you could not drive around a part you were not comfortable with. The guys that went were great, patient with everyone’s skill level and helped out to make sure everyone was safe. I tried to organize another trip a year or so ago and could not generate any interest. I hope this works out and I am able to make it. I will try to post some pics.

This sounds like a great time. I’ve lead a couple trips up here at a park called Tahuya and it’s very much the same way. Most everything is bypassable.
