I bought the truck with 48,000 miles in 2003, tires and springs were installed within a week then TRD s/c was installed one month later. I have 146,000+ miles on it now, starter (went out at 84,000 miles in South Dakota – bad news was the extended warranty went out somewhere in Wyoming – the good news was Toyota dealer in South Dakota was $45 an hour instead of $120 an hour in Palo Alto). I have used Mobil 1 since I got the truck and I run Redline Oil in the diff and transfer case – the truck was owned by the owners of a local Jeep dealership. I replaced both CV’s and have rebuilt them twice – I have one good spare CV from putting together the bad ones.

I would like to have the truck cleaner but … I still have my (small) dent from going through the Rubicon and a bunch of scratches from narrow trails – I keep meaning to fix it but, it’ll just get scratched again and (hopefully not) dented again.

I like having the 2nd 160L gas tank – I deal with the extra weight but it gives me better range and I can pick where I get gas. I had the truck weighed last summer fully kitted for a trip and it 7180 pounds. That is roof top tent – food – both tanks full and 25 gallons of water (5 gallon jerry cans).
I’ve had an FJ62, an 80 (2x) and now the 100 – they are all different in their respect. I love the 100 but I also liked the other trucks too.

Nice write up. Thats a thorough build, thanks for signing up and sharing.

very nice!

some day when our 100 grows up .... :)

Saleh,

I really like the TRD s/c - it doesn't give me a ton of power but enough to go uphill without driving the truck too hard especially when its all loaded for a trip. I don't really romp on it like I did when I first got it installed. Now I know its there and when I need it - its available :grinpimp:

As for the limiting straps - it helps soften the harshness when the suspension is flexed out or flexing - the sound of the (stock) bumpstop making contact is awful - we (Ken Hannah) are still exploring and will put hydraulic bump stops on there one of these days.

The Fox shock is night and day difference - it doesn't heat up and you can customize it and rebuild it. We are going to make it a little stiffer from the current setup maybe another 20% - it does really well on fast fire roads when I don't see a bump or a dip and I don't quite slow the truck down enough before I take a hit. I had OME on there before they were both leaking (that's putting it mildly) after hitting some dips at high speed in Death Valley last year.

The front bumper looks even better up close. Amando did an awesome job on that one!

This is the locker switch from an 80 Series - the 2nd fuel tank transfer pump, it also has 4 green lights determines how much gas is in the tank, a yellow light for when the pump is working and a red light when its empty. The big red switch is for the ARB compressor.

A lot of time I need to be careful when I turn on the lockers. Sometimes the rear (factory) locker hasn't engaged yet but the front ARB is on right away.

This is the switch for the Hell Roaring dual battery system. Middle position both batteries are being charged - pull out and left it will use the 2nd battery to jump start the primary battery - pull out and right it will disconnect both batteries.

The main battery does everything - the sole purpose of the 2nd battery is just for jump starting. I've only had to do this once - ran the fridge for 3 days straight and using a CPAP (12v) machine for 3 nights.

This one shows the 2nd battery on a Slee battery tray, the ARB compressor and the Hell Roaring module.
