:DThe other night at the meet, I showed up and Phil presented me with a fan from a 2F 60 series motor. (THanks Phil!)

What led up to this was several conversations we have had relating to superchargers and heat. Much of this cumulated over the many years here on Mud where guys who ran superchargers (like Tools and LCPhil and their blown 80's) battled heat here in AZ.

As many of us have realized, the struggles and trials of the technically minded on this forum have saved us all alot of grief and have been the benefactors of "the final determined solution" of many topics. Gotta love MUD!!!

After adding my S/C a couple years ago and seeing some temp issues at drive-thru's in the middle of summer (try sitting in line at Taco Bell in 115 degree heat with the family when your high pressure switch shuts off your compressor due to running hot and starts to blow hot air in your face - the family all of the sudden didnt like the Landcruiser very much! :o). I searched MUD and found what I needed: By adding a blue fan clutch, JDM fan, and hood vents, I never again had any heating issues! :clap:The only time the truck has the A/C run warm now is only in the extreme condition of me going up the hill to Payson, towing my trailer, truck full of family and gear in the middle of summer.

BTW, when you add a Supercharger, TRD has you also replace the stock fan with a ringed fan. See where Tools R Us, LCPhil, and Cdan raised some questions about the SC fan and found some interesting results (Back in the day ~ 2005! :D)

Anyway, I think this fan was going to be Phil's replacement fan for his 80 before he sold it. By the way of several tests, Phil feels the 2F fan moves more air than even the 4Runner fan that was thought to be the best replacement.

Anyway, not to ramble but just another technically superior "tweak" that I am excited to check out this summer in field testing.

I think that Phil has a crystal ball....He gave me the fan on Friday night and my intentions were to install it sometime before summer. As luck would have it  the top tank on my AM plastic radiator sprung a leak on Tuesday! So while installing my new metal radiator, I had the tech install the new un-ringed, burly, thickly bladed fan.

Thanks for the fan and for the tips guys  <salute!>
I shouldve took a pic of the new fan before installing. New vs old pictures.

You can replace the radiator with a metal tank one?!?!? Mine did the same thing as yours about 3 weeks after I bought it (hairline crack about 13 inches long on top tank) and when I called cDan he sold me a plastic tank replacement. I will say no more....

Let me know when you want to test it this summer, i'll let you buy me Taco Bell.

Hey don't be dissin my man Eric on Taco Bell... the drive thru in Fountain Hills has a mad incline to the pick up window... :D

Seriously though many :clap::cheers: to all the tech gurus on this forum.

I also didn't know there was a all metal radiator for the 80s. Not that I really care... any more... sniff... :crybaby:

I know some history on this....

:grinpimp:

Good deal, looking forward to seeing how it works! The fan to shroud spacing looks good, are you running the fan clutch spacer?

I dont have the spacer, what are your thoughts on that?

Mounting it without the spacer would be my first preference and it appears to work. Phil and I did a bunch of measuring, checked different fans and that setup looked to be the best combo. Should be a big improvement over the skinner fan.
