Fall HDC Moab 2010

Who is thinking for going and what days? For me, the only drawback of that weekend is the 24 hours of Moab (prices are jacked up for the stay I believe). Sorry guys, those cabins suck (both years), for 50 bucks a night I would rather stay in a tent, or spend the extra 50 bucks for a hotel for that weekend. What's the vote of is when to go, I will be will plan to be there, just need to make arrangements.

I'm not in charge of anything here, but just threw up some dates on the other thread that are consistent with what we've done in years past, and I believe Steve confirmed the thought.

Having said all that, the previously mentioned dates were to travel to Moab on Thursday, October 7th, do some wheeling on Friday through Sunday, and then travel back to NM on Monday October 11th. We should probably discuss and confirm at the April HDC meeting. Also, people do not need to commit to the whole five days either. If you want to make a shorter (or longer) trip for that matter, it's all good.

Graham - We'd love to see you in Moab. It's been too long. I remember wheeling Behind the Rocks with you a couple Octobers ago. That was a blast.

i've been to moab once on a mtb... about 5years ago. it would be fun to go with the club and use different power . the fam and i are interested...

We hope to go. I was all jazzed to go last year and then broke my elbow. the dates look good to me.

Stewart knows the good (aka cost effective...) hotels. Getting reservations now would be good, even if they have to be canceled later. I think the bicyclers are mostly tent people (not bad or good, just is). We're flexible on where to stay. KOA is aok...

I'm not complaing about the date we normally go out there. I just need to get off my butt in gear this year and make plans. Last year I waited to long to make arrangements because I did not think I was going to go. I already was in a bind, but when I got some things worked out two weeks before, I figured I would go. Just don't want it feel like a rush this year.

"KOA is aok," If they are not using that already, you should copyright, patent or whatever and sell it to them. For me, I already have sleeping problems, so I need to figure that out on my own. That is why I was wondering what dates (even if the usual weekend) most have in mind so I can plan better. Besides, I believe anyone is resonsible for making thier own accomedations to what suits them.

we usually tent it and hate the KOA. the wind can be ferocious. it actually broke our tent last time. everyone doesn't have to be in the same campground, but it does make logistics easier. We (jill and I) like Slickrock that time of year. no cottonwood fluffs, and lots of weather protection. that's my vote/suggestion.

It will close the morning of the June meeting. Hopefully we will be able to figure out whether or not we will do a Moab trip or a southern Utah expedition trip or both over Columbus Day, and if we want to do the other before or after or just when. Lots of options. If you're interested this meeting might be a good one to get your voice heard.

Im hoping to attend whatever dates the group decides for moab or expedition stuff. I understand the Moab dates are 10-7-11...? I would like to stay in any campground the rest yall pick. Sounds like Slickrock?

actually, I think Slickrock is a great CG, just not in May when the cottonwoods are shedding.
