At our August 7th meeting we will be planning for Fall Crawl November 1sr - 3rd. The event is only a couple months away and we should do a little planning for it. We need to make volunteer list and get volunteers for them.

Please make a solid effort to attend August 7th meeting.

Fixed it just for you Jake!
I mean for everyone who forgot.
It has been moved twice.

I'm happy to volunteer....I just don't want to be a trail leader right off as I've only been to The Cove once.

Maybe post up a list of needed positions before the meeting so I/we can see what fits best for each of us? I have a pretty good idea, but it would be nice to see a list and maybe prioritized based on importance?

I agree a list of positions needed would be a good thing for people to think about before the meeting.

This is what the meeting is going to be good for. Getting a good list of duties and forming a volunteer plan.
We fly by the seat of our pants. Some members get stuck doing a lot. Not really because of lack of volunteers more because of lack of planning.

This is not a dig at you specifically, in fact I think you’d make a great trail leader, as would many others in the club who hesitate to lead. We need more trail leaders, especially those who are capable of leading a green-blue ride. I can give you a route and set you up for success. It’s really not that big of a property, and the best way to learn it is by trying to navigate on your own.

My first day at the cove (and my first club event ever) I ended up leading a group out of necessity. As a group we tried our best to navigate using a map that might as well have been drawn by my 2 year old daughter with crayons on a napkin. Despite that, we didn’t die. It was a good learning experience.

Too often we have a green ride leaving camp with way too many trucks. In general - I encourage you guys to volunteer to lead a ride. You should also know that if you don’t speak up you might be voluntold 🤣.

Might be an incentive to come a day early and let prospective trail leads run a trail or two for them to be comfortable or do a run a few weeks before for a day and run a few trails.

I don't know what you're talking about. We almost died that trail ride 🤣

Coming soon: I will create a list of Fall Crawl tasks/jobs that need to be assigned so the community can contemplate in what capacity they can help out...or at the very least what tasks/jobs we can nominate Ahmad for.

Is this beginner friendly trails? I am interested but never done anything beyond beach driving and regular gravel/mud roads.
The Cove has lots of different trails that vary in difficulty levels from easy to hardcore/extreme. There are plenty of fun and rewarding entry-level trails for those that don't want to smash up their vehicles yet. Come out for the day or plan to stay all weekend...it's all up to you! :)

From Ohio, I want to go this year, I have vacation for the dates. Are LC owners from outside of VA allowed to attend? Thank you.
Hello @duece71! You are absolutely welcome to join us for Fall Crawl; the event is open to all Toyota 4x4s. Stay tuned for the announcement of the registration opening, which will occur in August. **The last several years the spots have sold out in less than a few days.

Excellent! I will be keeping my eyes peeled. Thank you.

I will lead groups on greens again this year.... it seems that we always have a lot of folks that want to do the greens....

Thanks TT...you're probably right, and now with that nice big screen that I have with OnX (assuming The Cove is on it), definitely makes it easier than just paper maps, especially if driving solo without a navigator. I do plan on being there on Wednesday evening to get set up at this point, so I could do a scouting trip on Thursday with a small group. :steer: :steer: :steer:
