So my 2004 LC with 264k just failed the Ga emissions readiness test (FAIL 4). I've had this thing forever, put 161k of those miles on it and NEVER had an emissions issue before.

Runs great, no CEL, no DTC's. Same basic driving habits, haven't replaced the battery in years.

So now what? Anyone know the Toyota driving cycle routine for the LC to make all the sensors "ready'?

Help !!!

I had an O2 sensor code, replaced it, drove 5 miles on the highway and everything got ready for emissions testing. You need to get a scanner and see what's not running, prior to me replacing the O2 sensor, the CATs weren't getting ready even after driving 200 miles.

Could be operator error. Could be you have a failing component that's tripping a fault on occasion, this will change monitors from ready status until you get X amount of drive cycles with out fault. Knowing which monitor it failed for is important did you not get a printed paper with this information on it?

I'm not fimilar with GA emissions but I regularly get emission failures for this or failure to communicate and I send them back (literally across the street) and they pass.

UPDATE - FIXED !!!

So I bought a $20 OBDII scanner from Amazon, checked the IM Readiness parameters, and sure enough the "EVAP Vacuum Pressure Monitor" was in an incomplete state. Pulled up the handy dandy FSM, went to the diagnotics section and performed the drive pattern steps as outlined. Voila!!! Went to a READY state once complete and passed the emission test just fine.

Happy camper here and no parts needed to be replaced. Still not sure how it got reset. All the other tests were OK.
