I have a 2008 LC200 with the factory spare tire carrier that is very loose and annoying because it keeps closing on me. It came with a pin that can be inserted at the top swing arm but is there a way to make it tighter so it doesn't swing so easily? Any other solutions someone here has tried besides using the pin?

Thanks in advance.

David

There was a factory optioned rear tire carrier? Never heard of this... Mind sharing some pictures?

Sorry, I should have specified, this is the Central American diesel V8 version. I'll post some picture of it later today.

I’d be interested in some pics as well.
Anyone know what part numbers constitute the bracketry that attaches to the vehicle?

Hey guys, here are some pictures of the carrier on my car. I'll if I can get you part numbers from a dealership here for all the pieces necessary.

That little door in the bumper on the lower hinge is quite slick.

Have you look into the hinges? Worn out maybe? You can install lockable gas struts but that's a little complicated.

Thank you for sharing. I’d be interested in part #s as well. That would be cool if we can source this swing out here in the US.

Here you go, guys. The guy a the dealer sent me a photo of all the parts and part numbers. I hope this helps although it's a tad blurry. I asked for a better picture but have not heard back.

Thanks for your reply. After spending some time on it this weekend it looks like the hinges are worn. I'll see about trying to fix that this weekend if I can.

Does anyone know why to take this apart? I bet there's something there I can adjust/fix.

Looking at the diagram you posted earlier, that vertical pin is not listed. I wouldn't be surprised if it is a pressed in part and not user serviceable.

Have you considered asking the dealer how much a new spare tire mount assembly is?

Bodging together a replacement solution with bearings etc may be a labor of love (doable but time consuming).

Partsouq shows the assembly as
51903-60180
$454 (plus shipping)

What is the cost in your local market?

I think you may be right. I did ask for just the swingarm without any of the other pieces and it's $931. It's a bit too much for now. If it turns out that I can't do anything about it then maybe in the future. Also, it just started to make a rattling noise that is very annoying.

I wish we could get install instructions and a full part list on this.

Here's the full parts list.
No guarantee the weld nuts will be there under the sheet metal.

And the 200s these are on have a vertical split rear door, not horizontal like the US.

I think you would have to take it to a shop if yours did not come with one because they would need to do some bodywork on it in order to attach it. It looks like you're in FL so getting the parts from Central America would not be that expensive to ship but the parts are more expensive.

I posted a picture above with all the part numbers.
