Is there a way to expand the bandwidth on the stock radio to receive the NOAA channel? Not even sure if you can do that. Some cars, like Mercedes, will tune into NOAA from the stock radio. Just wondering if it were possible.

If not, I'd sort of like to get into HAM radio and put one in the truck. But, I would want one that I could unplug and take out, too. I have been eying the Icom IC-706, but I'm not sure if that is meant to be portable or not. Or really what all I would need. I don't have a license yet but I am going to take the test this month. A lot to learn, but it just got me wondering why factory radio won't pick up NOAA.

Also, if anyone has any HAM mounting ideas, that would be great too :)

I doubt it

Lots of us are into HAMs. Checkout the electronics section of the forum
