So my bj73 has what I believe to be a factory bullbar or push bar or front bumper whatever it might be referenced as. I'm curios if anyone else has a Japanese domestic that is similarly equipped or if you have a bullbar that is not homemade or ARB made could you post pics of it and any info you might have.

Mine is a 1985 BJ73 came from Japan with this bullbar on I don't really have any more info than that it might be Japanese aftermarket part of this time period

I was under the impression that most JDM 70 Series had this bumper. (Foreground)

I believe I have the same manufactures bull bar on my 80 series. You'll notice it even has the exact same cut outs in the middle. I was told it was a TJM but I have not found a similar one on their site. Although it could just be an older model?? Not sure if it was added before or after the truck was imported either? I am pretty sure it's not factory though

I was under the impression those were old TJM bumpers as well. Would LOVE to get my hands on one. Someone in Vancouver was selling the same off a Prado a while ago.

Yours looks different from the side here's my side view (these are picture s from the seller or I would take some better shots)

Yeah I am sure thats just because they are built different for the specific models. The extra portion on the side of mine is just an add on to complete the fender lines. You'll also notice my lower crossbar does not go all the way across in front of my lower marker lights. But otherwise they are the same design and I would bet money they are the same manufacture

It is a period JDM aftermarket accessory bumper. Possibly Jaos. Mot had one like that on his HDJ81.

Do they have the same "structural integrity" of an ARB unit or are they built to somewhat "lighter" standards?

Aluminum versus steel. I would consider them to be somewhat more in the decorative side.

I'm not sure the "decorative side" would keep Bambi out of the grill. :D

It would slow him down.

Well mine was pushed in just a little I took a 16 lb sledge to it after heating it up a bit and it didn't even move so id say its pretty heavy duty but probably not like steel obviously.

x2. As mentioned by BJ71, the one shown in the original photo is a 70 series specific TJM Aluminum bumper.

Looks after market, alloy bars can be found on many vehicles here in Australia, have one on my dads nissan patrol, hit a rather large roo and the bar did the job fine, the bar was replaced, no damage to the vehicle though. The new bar was custom made the same as the one that was on it by a company that makes truck bullbars here is OZ,

TJM used to have several options / series of bars there range has been reduved to the more popular ones.

I doubt they are factory equipped. They look like old australian designs to me

When landcruisers were factory equipped with "bullbars" they had those ugly chrome things with with the headlight protection bolted to the big lip bumper

I have it on reasonably good authority (local Japanese toyota mechanic and Japanese spares importer) that toyota Japan used to offer new vehicles exclusively with TJM (and not ARB) accessories at the Japanese dealerships since the 90's, I have no idea if that's still the case.

I think the bullbar option has completely disappeared in oz. On the 200 series it was found that once you add a bullbar ,winch ,roofrack and an extra spare wheel ,the vehicle was overloaded with 4 passengers.
On the 70 ,its cheaper to take it straight to ARB/TJM yourself rather than have Toyota do it and add their 20% onto the total.

It's a TJM bumper. I have one on my 80 Series. They are not light duty. Mine is slightly caved in but the Jeep and the Chevy K1500 that I hit with it are totaled with no other damage to my rig. :) And they are aluminum. I want to say about .150 aluminum.
