I must comment on this very old post because it has just now come to my attention. This 55 was FS on Craigslist, located in Ka'u district of Hawaii a few years back. I went to take a look at it then. The guy was selling it for fairly cheap because, well, it's an incredible rust bucket. Can't forget those custom door panels! Quite a trip it made across the Pacific and beyond. New owner apparently looking to make up for the shipping costs, along with adding in a handsome profit.

I would not consider my self an expert at all, but I will give my $0.02 cents.

It looks like a pretty complete and clean FJ55. I would ask for a lot more pics and talk to the owner on the phone. He should be able to answer all your questions if he has owned it for the last 10 years. $15k seems a little high to me even if it checks out, but these things seem to be on the rise and there are not many of then on the east coast :)
