Sup !,

I've looked around for any reference to a similar thread, none found.

Anyone out there ever fabricated their own extended shackles ?, I'm looking to go 3-4 Inches vertical and any help (drawings / plans ??) would be a life saver ....
Many thx ...

So you want 3 to 4" of lift from a shackle??

Then you are looking at a 8" longer than stock shackle. And that my friend will suck..

Get some lift springs..

I thought is more simple buy them .. are not too expensive out there ..

just my 0.000002 cents ..

did'nt know you could buy shackles to give a lift of 4"(inches)

a BL would be better than that, and even that would look like crap with stock springs.

prettty simple to make shackles any way.

add-a-leafs would even be better.

you gotta re-think your plan, you are just asking for trouble with this version.

check the vendors list in the forums below; Ruffstuff sells four lengths of shackle; 4", 5", and 6". These figures are the actual shackle length, not the lift gained.
Like others said, longer shackles are unsafe for one, and look ghey. Do a search for "fangs of death".

2 inch over stock shackles, add a leaf, and an inch of body sounds like a pretty cheap economical lift to me. And good god dont try and get 4 inches with shackles. Why dont you search for the thread with those enormous curb feelers, thats an idea of how ugly that would be.

On a SO longer shackles are not as big of a deal. Moe so if you relocate the shackle hanger for a better shackle angle.

On a stock suspended rig with no lift they seriously get in the way..

Thanksalot guy for all the info,
i think I'll go with what Agent Orange suggested, 2" shackles, 1" body lift and add a leaf.
BTW, I thought that 4" shackles would reflect as a 4" actual lift, seems i was wrong.....

In my experience if you can avoid extended shackles avoid them at all costs(especially with a spring over). Extended shackles relate to unstable ride on or off road. True they might give you more flex but possibly unstabile flex. I kown with lifted spring you have to have extended shackles but go with the minimum possible or some trick shackle like the Downey or Terra flex.

Just my .02

Why does an extended shackle lead to an unstable ride if you have a solid shackle and new bushings? Just because?
