So my 74 has started missing going up hills in 4th gear and sometimes in 3rd gear what would cause this? Plugs look good a little rich but not bad. I am lost on these.

what dizzy you got. if its the points stile check dwell and condition. Use to give me greef from time to time befor i got an HEI

dirty fuel filter.

Could possibly be the float adjustment. I'm not sure how steep a hill you are talking about but I have had problems with steeper angles and carbs in the past. I've never had an original carb on any of the Landcruisers I've owned but have dealt with Rochesters many times.

Like said before, try a float adjustment.

Is it because its a steep hill, or are you just trying to go up it with a low rpm?

its just a normal hill on the highway/backroads and now sometimes even in flats......i am stumped on this one.

It would depend on whether it is an ignition or fuel related misfiring. Fuel related misfiring often involves surging, bucking and spitting back through the carb. Electrical misfiring is more often just missing a few beats.

Figured it out. Not getting fuel to the fuel filter....either have a clogged up pump or clogged up lines. I put a new to me fuel tank in and stired up a mess in the bottem when I put fuel in it. Hopefully I can tear the pump down and clean it up.

It is probably not a pump problem. They usually either work on don't. Check it by putting the pump inlet in a can of clean gas and looking at how much gas it pumps.

Its getting gas to the hard line 2 ft from the tank. Have to pull the soft line off and look there. If not there then I will pull the pump.
