I don't want to get flamed on the 40 board for asking such a routine question, but I can't seem to find the answer. I've got to install an oil filter adapter and this requires that I identify an IN and an OUT on the engine itself. The old filter had two lines - one coming from the center of the engine below the carb and the other was higher and closer to the firewall. The metal hose went from that center hole under the carb to the BOTTOM of the oil cannister. The line from closer to the firewall went into the side near the top of the cannister. Does anyone know which one has oil coming out of it and which is the return to the engine?? The engine isn't wired so I can't start it to see which one blows oil all over the place.

The OUT from the engine goes to the IN on the filter and the OUt on the filter goes to the IN on the engine - or at least that's what the directions say. Thanks,
William

Will this help?

Jeremy,
I don't know how you find this stuff - but once again, you are the man!!! That's just what I was looking for!! I can't seem to get the search function on MUD to be so specific. And thanks for the post on Poser's adaptation to the brake booster pushrod - I've got someone working on that as we speak. This forum is Awesome!!!!

Anytime man. I understand that it takes a little time to get the search function down. Keep looking, and eventually you will have it down. I spend hours reading through material. Not because I don't have a life, but my wife is an english teacher and is always reading. She has been trying for years to get me to read. I finally found something worth reading about: cruisers, mechanics, building, etc. The world wide web is the greatest thing that Al Gore ever did for this country. Ha, ha.

Good luck with everything.

That's funny - my wife is an english teacher as well - teaches 9th grade english. She's either reading or prepping for class - and has to be "clocked in" by 6:45 for the start of her 7:15 class - CRAZY!!

Same here, she teaches 9th grade as well. She doesn't have to be in until 7:30. I have to be in at 9:00, so I usually get about an hour to spend on the cruiser every morning. At night, I have to tend to the baby while she grades papers, or makes lesson plans. Teaching is really a crappy job, but I sure am glad they do it. Someones gotta keep our children from running this country into the gutter one day. All I can say is God bless'em!

Yeah, my wife was born to teach - nothing else she would ever dream of doing although she did venture away from it when the kids were infants. Fortunately, it's not often I have to bring work home, but it is so hard to get out in the garage after I eat dinner and get the shoes off and finally get the kids into bed. I'm impressed you get some cruiser time in BEFORE work - I'd be afraid I couldn't get the grease off!!
