Can it be done? I have a F engine out of my 71 FJ40. Can I swap it into my FJ60 which has a blown engine? Can I bolt the engine to the flywheel and use a Holley Carb and bypass all the weird vacuum hoo-hah? I am in AZ. Anyone ever done this swap before?

Thanks!

I contemplated this exact same swap out of desperation. I had an '85 60 with an obliterated block and about 4 complete F engines at the time. After my head cleared, I realized that the pain of adapting the a/c and p/s would make it worth holding out for a good used late-model 2F. You could just go without those two luxuries, but in the end, I think it would be more trouble than it's worth, especially considering the plethora of 2F's that are available. It's just my opinion, but I decided against it, and I had plenty of spare F's at my disposal.

Yes,

But I am schizophranic and machined my F block and got a rebuild kit, and it is ready to go, I installed a SBC 283 in my FJ-40, and now I have a friend with a truck that has a blown engine, and I have an engine that is ready to install....just wondering if it will bolt on to the bell housing. He can live without the PS and AC, he just wants something that moves.

I have a F bell houseing bolted to my 2F if that helps that what make a SM420 fit I gues it will go the other way ..... marksoffroad make a pulley for the f to make a sag power steerin box work

lots of people both the other way 2f into a f truck cant be that hard

Not to be obnocious, but why would you do this? F engines are boat anchors, and 2F's are not much better. I understand desperation but, motor swaps take time especially with indirect replacements. For the time required, I would go with small block chevy and an sm465 or tranny adapter, or a Chevy 292 straight six. Though you say you want something that moves. I guess with an F engine in arizona you could race with a desert tortoise

Hi All:

Ha! As desperate as this sounds (and I think it would work, but with no AC or PS) I remember an article in Four Wheeler magazine (I think) from the mid-1990s of two guys that swapped a Toyota 22R I-4 engine into a FJ55 TLC using a one-off custom adaptor. Want to talk about "barely moving!"

Regards,

Alan

Should be cake, nothing special needed except for the power steering and A?C, but there are tons of 2fs and 3fs for sale on this board that I wouldn't even consider doing it. If you have a rebuilt F, then sell it to someone that wants a rebuilt F, then buy an appropriate engine.
